Apologies for intruding on your forum chaps, being a 1199 owner I don't come in here much I have a very quick question to ask... is the glass/plastic sections on the 749/999 speedo flat or convex? I'm assuming the square part is flat but wasn't so sure about the rev counter? I'm looking at designs for a screen protector for the 749/999 speedo (I have the Panigale and 848/1098/1198 designs covered already), but it's pointless if the rev counter has a convex cover and I don't want to spend £200 odd on a second-hand unit to find out I can't go ahead with the project anyway! Thanks in advance.
Great - Thanks Simon. Would be nice if a current owner could confirm though, not that I don't believe you! Glad the TeknoFibra arrived safely! Seems to have made a decent difference on mine
It must only be very slight, warm air on application would do it, or are you looking for 'childs play' fitting for the masses?
Hmm..that's a tough one. I guess I wouldn't want people to get a heat gun or hairdryer out to fit the protector. The 848 dash I have is ever so slightly convex too and I can get a protector on there without issue. It depends on how steep the drop-off is. I have a CBR1000RR dash where it's very steep towards the edge so there's no chance of fitting one, even with a bit of heat.
Rectangle drops approx. 2mm per side and is 68mm wide - drops less in other plain. Circle is 85mm and drops off about 3mm all round the edge - its a constant dome.
If I were to send you a 68x85mm and 85mm (maybe a couple of mm off to make them easier to fit) diameter sample of the material would you be willing to see whether they go on ok? If they fit, I'd be more than happy to send over some freebies once the finished product is shipped to me (if you wanted some!) If they don't then I guess I could send over some appreciation
Rectangle is 68 x 50mm - circle is 85mm dia. I can try a prototype for you on my prototype 999 reduce each dimension by 2mm perhaps...
