Hi, newbie here saying hello from way up north. I would be Britains most northerly Ducati. Been away from bikes for a wee while and this is my first Duke. I have a feeling it won't be my last. Really enjoying my 999s, I had to recalibrate my brain somewhat after coming from an '05 Fireblade. Not the best time of year to get back into biking I'll admit but come any decent days, its hello nice quiet open roads.....just need to watch out for sheep...and Shetland ponies. Cheers
Welcome! How long does a trip round Shetland take? And how many months of the year can you do the trip?
Thanks guys. Up Helly Aa- its a Viking fire festival that takes place in various parts of Shetland, including the main town Lerwick which has by far the largest. Generally regarded as a monumental piss up wherever it takes place. You would need at least a long weekend to get around Shetland. If you wanted to look at every other Viking burial site and other historical places, maybe a bit longer. The weather window is about the same time frame Generally, I would say from May to Sept would give you the best shot of decent bike weather. Why on earth do I have an Aussie flag on my avatar??
Cause you might as well be all the way up there  I have a German one when at work - to do with where your sever is routing through or summint - @Loz understands these magical things :Bucktooth:
Ha you're not wrong Exige:smile: I had a feeling it might be that. I'm in Papua New Guinea at the moment, they are probably using an Aussie server.
I can assure you we only burn Viking longships......although kicking the bucket, burning with the ship and having a wee trip to Valhalla might not be so bad
and contractors :Banghead:,,, worked in Sallum Voe last year, lovely roads,, ( i heard plod is a bit keen tho )
Aye roads are very good and well maintained. Plod is pretty keen on the main island but the island I'm on and the neighbouring island have no resident cop Still have to apply some common sense though and everybody knows everybody.
