Self-repairs and general bike maintenance aside... Im interested to know how far other members travel to get to their chosen Ducati Service agent? Do you ride your bike there and get a bus home? Do you trailer it? Do you just wait and drink copious amounts of cheap machine coffee from a plastic cup? Interested in what lengths others go to in order to service their pride 'n joys.
I just finished explaining to the wife why I have to go 40mls to Silverstone to get my 996 serviced by Geoff @Baines. She recons I'm up to something. I will be leaving her (the bike, not wife) for a week (hopefully) and picking up following weekend. Calling in a couple of favours from mates. I've seen others on here have their bikes transported from way south up to Nelly c@ cornerspeed just because they trust his quality, knowledge and skills.
133 miles to Moto Rapido. Drink coffee or test bikes as I am this Saturday. It's ok so long as you only need annual services.
Ride 38 miles.... Then a bus.....another bus, work,.... Another bus, a train... Then to collect next day drive over big hill, train, bus, ride home then cycle over big hill to get car and return with bicycle in boot..... Am I over complicating it?
I travel up to Doncaster Motorcycles to see Neil and Dr.Kev,they're about 53 miles away, but I trust them completely with my bike, for MOT and servicing.
Good to know there are some hard nuts willing to travel for their bikes. Im in the North West near Warrington (for my sins).. seems there are a few options about 40-50 miles away down into wales and then up north a bit. Moto Rapido 200 miles away Louigi Moto 167miles Woods 55miles Doncaster Motorcycles 90miles
I use my van to drop off and collect. I do a 1 hr / 35 mile trip to Moto Louigi for all my bikes except the D16 which goes 2 hrs / 150 miles up to JHP. I could do a 15 min / 11 mile trip to Riders of Bridgwater instead but I choose not to.
like Paul above i also go to Alton or Winchester, so 50 to 75 miles. i could go 6 miles to my old favourite Mike @ MD Racing, but i choose not to.
350 miles round trip to Cornerspeed, drop the bike off, then another 350 miles to collect when finished.
I do my own servicing, but my nearest dealer is 360 miles away, nearest Ducati Service Agent is 140 miles away.
50 mile ride to get to Pro Twins in Godstone, Surrey. Then I get the train back to Bognor Regis with a change at Redhill. Then a few days or a week later I'll get the train there and ride home. The train journey takes about two and a half hours door to door.
130 miles to LouigiMoto for me - leave it and come back the following weekend is the usual plan. Or stay with family / friends for a few days in my hometown of Bristol... The Benelli goes 160 miles ooop North to the legends at Bennetts of Barnsley, but since there are so few Benelli specialists they organise a winter service run each year to collect and return a whole load of bikes in one go, which is certainly a lot less hassle!
Just had a 7.5k service done on my 848 Evo by Ducati proteam Ducati Pro Team The reason for this was a result of dissatisfaction with the dealers who are nearest to me and I had heard good things regarding Alex's expertise, and their facility to pick up my bike and drop off. I live 70 miles from Proteam, they do a free pick up and collection service up to 35 miles. They charged me £70 for the pick up and return which was extremely reasonable I thought as it saved me the logistical challenge of getting the bike there and picking it up. I was delighted with Alex's service. My bike which I thought was running very well came back and feels sharper, crisper and more powerful. Highly recommended, very professional service, I will definitely be taking my bike back there in the future.
