btw, i dont love rossi.. i am a huge fan and respect the guy for his achievements but i would be equally happy should mm or loz (well maybe not loz) or some young blood win and go on to be the next rossi or better. the fact is rossi at 36 has changed his style, maintained his fitness and desire to win and has race craft is second to none. do you not think that he would deserve this years title should he win it? what more does he have to do?
It would be great to see Rossi get the championship this year. Lorenzo just looks so good on the bike at the moment I think it's going to be a big ask for Rossi to get it. What a great season it's been so far.
you aint wrong... this season has had everything. any one that says the gp is boring needs their head read! the 2 and 3 have been fantastic as well and with the changes and riders coming up its all good!
I would agree with you Yep . Jlo is good , smooth fast consistant , it will be a big ask for rossi to win the ch ship , and rossi will also agree , thats why he was so pissed off on sunday , he knows better than anyone how much he needs every point available
With 5 races to go, Rossi was 25 points in front of Lorenzo. I reckon his strategy was simple: it was OK if Lorenzo beat him in every race, just so long as he always finishes just behind. From first to second, the gap is 5 points, from second to third, only 4 points and the gap gets smaller after that. So the Repsol Hondas can win everything, and Lorenzo beat Rossi in every race, but just so long as he is tucked in behind, he will still be world champion. Rossi would probably see this as reasonable. After all, Lorenzo is pretty hard to beat at the moment. But what he can't afford is for someone to be between him and Lorenzo, as Pedders was on Sunday. Now he has shipped 9 points so his initial strategy is not going to work. He is going to have to recover the extra 4 points that he lost because of Pedders. Which means that he is now going to have to beat Lorenzo in at least one race. This should make for an interesting end to the championship. I would expect him to do it. Equally, Lorenzo knows that he has to beat Rossi in every race, and he could do with some more Spanish help. Quite a big ask. So no pressure, then.
Spanish help is a thought that interests me. I can imagine Marquez being more inclined to "help" Rossi than Lorenzo to be honest.
He admitted he was a Rossi fanboy when he was younger. You used to see them laughing and joking together in parc ferme and press conferences. I'd say he probably would me more inclined to help VR
It is not beyond Rossi to take out his competitor. Last round, turn one, lap one, Rossi 2 point lead. Boom
TBH, I don't really think that any of the racers think much about "helping" anyone - at least not if they are in different teams, or not best mates. Are any of them best mates? The Rossi-Lorenzo battle is inter-team, so no help there. I don't think that Pedders and Lorenzo like each other much, and it is clear from Aragon that Pedders has no intention of helping Rossi. All the racers want as many points as they can get - they are all sitting on ejector seats. Do the Brits help each other? I think not.
One wet race and its vr title and its a good chance of one more wet race, even a wet qualifying might do the trick.
Should be some interesting racing. Remembering back to when Lorenzo won the championship, Rossi cam from 11th in turn 1 at Sepang and one and I think that was the year the two of them were banging fairings at Motegi.....
he aint no slouch in the dry either.. how many wet races we had this year? 2? and how many podiums has rossi had? i aint a betting man (well i am but im no good at it) but i wouldn't put money on the out come this year... rossi is where hes at not because of luck or the weather... its through grit, skill and the ability to adapt . if he dont win i will lose no sleep but he has made this season what it is now... FUCKEN FANTASTIC!
Well that was a boring race with an exciting finish eh. Couldn't believe MM dumped it again and after just two laps?? The front end losses from his bike are starting to look like Ducati from a few years ago. Iannone with a dislocated shoulder finishing 16s in front of Dovi? What's going on with Dovi eh? it's not often this year that Ducati have have both finished higher than non-factory bikes so I guess this was a good result for them. JLo saying he doubted he could hold MM off as he was already on the limit and not dropping MM. Noted how the gap from JLo to Pedro and Vale didn't really change after the first few laps and stayed consistent at around 2.5s to the end. Great pace from Vale at this circuit given he couldn't get past the Tech 3 and Ducati for too long. Amazing display from both Pedro and Vale for the last few laps. Given how DP's bike was firing off the corners and pulling away on the straight bits you gotta give it to Vale for being there to have a go a bunch of times. Those dive bomb moves at the end were something else from Vale - how late on the brakes? Amazing. He certainly isn't giving anything up yet, no way. Gotta feeling that if it was JLo instead of DP in front of VR then Vale woulda had it no problem as there woulda been much less of a disparity coming off corners to create the gaps that helped Dani. Yeah it's easy to believe JLo is gonna walk it but I don't believe it. Vale's race pace was sound and he certainly showed he's battle ready at the end of a hard slog. It ain't over yet kids. @xracer - mate - your visionary skills are on a higher level. Go get a lottery ticket this week!
