  2. Started having a better read / look at Multistrada, partly as there are some nice ones about for £4000 and under.
Have only seen a basic 620 - is there a 's' version or similar ?
It's fast approaching the top of my list. ( any of them )

  3. Was down at West Bay today. A chap and chapess rolled up on a 907 Paso and a Fugly respectively (greetings folks if you're on the forum).
Its a crap picture but the Fugly is orange and extremely tidy (both bikes are actually) I thought it looked pretty damn good. Striking rather than pretty but certainly not ugly. I'd have been happy to see it in the stable. For some reason better looking than a red fugly for my money. And the Paso brought back some memories of my 906 days..

  4. Could be a proper can of worms with all your budget blown before you start. That to me is a project for someone with money to spare. Wouldn't be my first choice.

  5. You're right. I think my heart ruled my head for a moment.
Back to the real world now........

  6. Air cooled multi 1000s and 1100s have ohlins f+r carbon f.guard and belt covers.

  7. The air cooled ds 1000 /1100 engine is a corker plenty for the road and cheaper to maintain . If u can live with the looks the old multi is a fantastic bike to ride. You can prob find a nice 's' model with online and possibly luggage for that money. Find an 05/06 if you can

  8. Cheers for advice.

Definitely heading towards multistrada, really like the look of Hypermotard but not sure about getting good one for £4000.
Multistrada however, seems to be a few good ones around £3000 leaving some money for mods etc.

Any views on the 620 ?
    Think I'd prefer 1000 / 1100 but would consider 620.

  9. unless your delivering piza in the city for a living i recon you would get board v.quick.

  10. with the 620.

  11. 1100 is THE best air cooled motor Ducati made.

1000DS is the second best a/c motor they made.

  12. Yeah. It's like a WWII searchlight. Horrible.

First thing I did when I got my S4 was replace the headlamp with an MT03 unit.

And don't get me started on that bloated tank they inflicted on the poor bike. That's why I'm going to put a 916 tank on mine :p

I know OP has sorted himself a bike but in case anyone uses this thread to research about £4k Ducatis circa Autumn 2015, my twopennorth is that 848s can be had for that kind of money now and they're a fantastic bike. I paid £4,300 for mine in February, rode it for 6 months and then sold it for what I paid for it.

696 Monsters start at about £4k and have to be worth a look, although they are perhaps a bit of a "lady's bike"? Lol

  13. Unfortunately not.....
Still haven't had the chance to even look at one !
Been working away and daughter in hospital so not had the time.
    Hopefully soon !

  14. I must be looking in the wrong places, haven't seen an 848 under £5000 ( shame ).

  15. People ask all sorts of daft money but they can be had for close to £4/£4.5k, especially now winter is around the corner. Mine took ages to sell advertised at £4,700, then £4,500 and I finally accepted £4,300, which is what I paid for it. Make an offer and see what happens?

  16. Bit off topic I know but I do wonder how many of the bikes ( particularly on eBay ) actually sell for the asking price

  17. You do see a lot of daft prices on there, for sure. Cars too. I have a BMW 330ci Clubsport, which is basically just a standard M Sport E46 3 litre coupe with a boot spoiler, front splitters and the under bonnet sound deadening removed. Just to give you an idea, I bought my fairly low mileage car from a dealer 12 months ago for £2,400, which although a bit low, the going rate seemed to be around £3k. I am therefore astonished by the amount of ads asking £5k and even close to £6k for these cars, when you can get an M3, which is altogether a different beast, for around that sort of money.

  18. Finally found what I wanted.

    Got a 900ss 2000 plate.
Could probably do with a good service and have spoken to Glen at Moto-V.
Other than that it looks good and it's red !

  19. :upyeah:

I imagine you had plenty of change out of £4k as well as most seem to go for around £2k - £2.5k

All you need to do now is rip all those ugly fairings off and make it into a streefighter!
