  1. obviously i feel sorry for the good folk of Middelsbirgh ( or insert any english town ) but there really is no comparison to that / them and a nice run out throo some Scottish glen or along the loch side, or even a cruise down the A 74 , etc , nice relaxed comfort with your good lady on the pillion..

  2. ya old romantic you.

  3. shucks

  5. Its Harley-ish. S&S 1950cc engine, 125 bhp 144 lb/ft torque. 106 db on a closed throttle. Ooh yes..

  6. and 800 kg! f me 144 lb/ft or torque? yes please!:D

  7. Dont get it , why do people like a harley that looks like a ducati , or a ducati thet tries to look like a harley !!

  8. Cant be - your hands and feet in that position are going to play havoc with your back....it can only be asthetic...

  9. On both of mine,I found any reasonable distance incredibly uncomfortable,as the hand and feet forward riding position put all the weight on the base of my spine.
Cornwall was as far as I travelled in a single day-I couldn't hack one for touring.
Plenty of people do,though,so must be ok for some

  10. You can adjust the bars and the pegs to suit ,, and sissy bar for her .

  11. if you want to get your leg down then buy a Ducati,, if you want to get your leg over then buy a Harley :)

  12. They don't. Otherwise the Ducati Indiana would have been a best seller and Buell wouldn't have gone bust. ;)

  13. That i agree with.... You just find whats good for you.... Case in point... I had an r6 years ago.... And hated it... I couldnt ride it for more than 25 minutes.... The rsv4 i can ride from bristol to the isle of man and back again... And its physically the same bike as i owned both at the same time...

  14. Ok, confession time, I've had a Harley Road-King for 14yrs and love the wobbly old thing especially as it has taken me (trouble free) around Europe, across the US of A and (last year) from the Isle of Wight to Orkney. Before my 1100evo I had an XR1200X for 2yrs. Actually it was Harley's attempt to make a Monster style bike. Plusses: HD's are actually pretty solid, the Nissin brakes and Showa suspension are good (for a Harley) and the handling is ok if a bit slow steering. The engine is torquey and actually chucks out about 76bhp at the rear wheel. Minuses: weight mainly, 250kg dry. The plastic tank swells (not alone on that one), no ABS, no gear indicator, 5 speed box. I liked it a lot, but I like almost anything that has 2 wheels and an engine...

  16. but they do,,, (check back on previous posts in this thread)

  17. Another confession peeps!
Having taken the Michael out of Harleys and all who ride them for the last 35 years, I bought a Dyna wide glide a month or so ago and I am loving it. A whole different take on biking. Nice to have the missus on the back of a bike again and when I'm riding it I feel like Arnie Schwarzenegger (though younger and much better looking obviously). Lack of ground clearance and mini roundabouts are going to take a bit of getting used to and it's as different as its possible to be to my 999, but overall I wish I'd got one years ago :).

  18. Ha ah ,,,,,,,,, do you still have the 999 ,,,,,,,,,, if / when i get a harley i wil keep my 749 , then the best of both worlds.

  19. Oh yes, I certainly have still got the 999. Couldn't part with that plus it's a future classic innit :)

Nail on the head though mate...........absolutely the best of both worlds!

  20. Could you sneak it in as spare parts then quietly assemble it?
