Well it looks totally different, so in that way it works ok. It's not like putting gloss pieces in with matt, that almost look the same but don't. I think it really suits the bike and to be honest because I've got so much carbon concentrated in one area of the bike the ilmberger heat shield nicely breaks it up I reckon. You tempted to get one? Basically I'd only run the standard small 1199/899 heat shield or this one and not bother with any other carbon bits.
Yes very tempted. I already have ducati Carbon rear hugger, heel guards, chain guard all in that area
I'm guessing if you bought a genuine Ducati part and it burnt you could get your money back? For me in the end it wasn't just about matching the carbon pieces but actually retaining the heat too which is why I went for the ilmberger shield instead of the DP one.
Ok, this one is listed to fit the 1199, I thought the 899/1199 exhaust bits were all interchangeable, maybe not! New Genuine Ducati Panigale 1199 Carbon Fibre Exhaust Heat Shield | eBay
My advice is don't bother. It's truly not worth the hassle. Had one on my 1199 and it went brown and looked horrible within 2 rides. All the heatproof foil ended up smoking and all over the rear of the bike. Thought my bike was on fire. That was a fullsix supplied by conquest carbon.
The foil has come of mine but these were taken a couple of weeks ago and it was fitted in March so probably done more the 3k. It was a pain to fit though.
Looks like the 899 carbon bits hold up much better, perhaps the engine/headers don't produce as much heat as the 1199.
What about this one. It's a seller on eBay. I've bought a few Carbon pieces from him and they match the Ducati stuff pretty well, good quality too. I think it's a copy of 1299r Carbon Heatsheild. What do you think? Will it fit?
That particular shape of heat shield is for the full termi system, that hole on the right-hand side is where it bolts onto the rear header, the heat shield for the standard rear headers bolt onto a different place. I'm guessing it will go on, but might not be the best option/fit. Looks like the Fullsix one holds up ok on the 899 going by the replies above
