Ever Had Someone Deliberately Try To Knock You Off?

  1. Are you talking about the Penrith roundabouts? I always filter to the front.

  2. There are some drivers - in my experience generally older ones - who just don't get that a bike overtaking / filtering is not going to hold them up and seem to think they're queue-jumping, hence the occasionally deranged swerving and blocking etc.

  3. Yes, Kemplay in particular, the problem exits are A6 north and south where if you don't have your wits about you you can be left in a very vulnerable position just waiting to be rear ended or side swiped.

The fact that the traffic lights continue their operation through the night is adding insult to injury.

  4. The new layout at our main roundabout has been changed and the signage doesn't help
There are broken white lines kind of emphasising the lane going around or across plus 2sets of traffic lights
Most bikers I see at it get to the front of the queues or stay where they are till safe
Car drivers are in a different league it's free for all no indication and no red light stoppage

I never filtered at roundabouts I just stayed where I was and kept my distance and always stayed in the right hand lane

  5. Actually had a guy tuck his nose out to stop me filtering, then wind his window down and shout that if he was sitting in traffic there is no reason I shouldn't be. It was winter so I told him I'd smash his fucking windows so that when I'm riding home cold, he can be cold with me.

Regarding out-dragging cars at the lights, watch out for the new Toyota Auris. Electric motor so it punches well above its weight at the lights. We have a couple at work and I was laughing my head off nailing everything at the lights.

  6. Oh and I always filter at roundabouts where the queue is more than 3 cars. Sometimes the car in front just does not know a gap when they see one so I soon move to the front of those too.

  7. Maximum torque at zero revs :upyeah:

  8. i mentioned in another post earlier a bout hiring a harley whilst in vagas which was a blast but i didnt realize (stupidly/naively) that filtering is a no no over there untill i did so at a set of lights immediately before the start of a motorway.. there was all sorts of tooting and yelling ("HEY! IM DRIVING HERE" type stuff) and then when i got to the front the worlds biggest redneck in the worlds biggest 4 by 4 turned hard lock towards me and dropped the clutch as the lights turned green!!!! it was only coz my brother was on a bike on his other side and we were having a drag race that i launched in front of Jethro and his 40 inch wheels and live today to tell this mildly amusing anecdote....

  9. My previous car was a Nissan LEAF. So I've experience of this side of the fence too. Fantastic fun away from the lights.

  10. i think all bikers should que up single file when at the lights for the next few weeks and see if the tin boxes get the picture.. and maybe do some texting while sitting there to ensure only one or 2 get thru each phase of lights

  14. Unbelievable !

    What a tit.

  15. Past couple of mornings the fog has been quite heavy. Seen a few rear end accidents in past couple of days.

So, take care and watch the rear view.

  16. Not much of a problem where you live Fin ;)

  17. deffo, the nearest one is 70 odd miles away.

  18. I also commute on a 300 Vespa, drives me nuts when people are oblivious to what's around them, I'm always grateful when drivers in traffic pull over to let me through that said ive punched a few mirrors on my commute.

  19. I actually enjoy my commute. Yeh you get Muppets, but I try not to waste energy on them. If I reacted to every incident, I'd never get to work or home.

  20. easier said than done. being out on the bike is the only time i get road rage.
