Honda building a 'road going GP bike' has been banded about for years, but by christ do I hope its true!
Following, not leading.... same as what they did with the SP1/SP2? Should be an EPIC bike tho!
To me all these update press releases seem to just point to a new Fireblade. I don't think Honda have mentioned a V4 themselves.
Yes they have, Honda have said they will build the RCV213V rep road bike in 2014 much the same as the D16RR, no say of price or numbers but was outlined as a road going race bike, also for sale as a CRT bike for just under a million euros, nothing was said about WSB as far as I know. They did say it is NOT to replace the CBR. Honda will make RC213V for the road - | Motorbike reviews | Latest Bike Videos | MCN http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/racing/honda-rc213v-production-racer-motogp/
No mention of a V4 by Honda themselves though. I think they made big claims about the CRB600RR having Motogp tech before it came out. Its journalists putting 2+2 together and making 5.
You've lost me? Honda said in public Honda has officially confirmed it will be putting a road-going version of the RC213V into production for 2014 as it tries to give a massive boost of excitement to the Honda brand. How can a rep of the RCV213V not be a V4? Check hondaworldwide for more info, off topic but those cleaver chaps at Honda have also sussed out how to weld steel and aluminium together (FSW) friction stir welding in mass production! The boss did say that the new race rep will be like the RC and NR limited production race rep...at a guess it will be one hell of a road bike IMO...and prob the price of a small house!
I'm still waiting for the v5 fireblade that was rumoured back in 2005 . That bike I would have bought. Would probably never have bought m 9R though so maybe not.
This is what Itoh said: Ito said: “Since its market introduction in 1987, the RC30 (VFR750R) super sports bike has been loved by a large number of fans. "With a goal to create a new history, passionate Honda engineers have gotten together and have begun development of a new super sports bike to which new technologies from MotoGP machines will be applied.” No mention of a V4 anywhere.
Lol you guys are killing me, if it were a V it would not be a fireblade, an RC213V rep will only be a V4... You will see in 2014 and can thank me then.... If it were a rep of an RC211V it would be a V5, if Ducati made a rep of LC's 2006 GP6 as an L2 it would not be a rep of the GP bike....lol
He doesn't mention a rep of an RC213V. That's what the journalists are reading into it, but the President didn't say that at all. All he says is a bike using 'Motogp technologies' but Honda have claimed that on their last few Fireblades and even CBR600RR's.
Another translation of what was said by Honda reads:- In 2014, that we have already written, will the RCV213V replica road bike that will be approved for the WSBK and STK1000.
A honda moto gp rep would definately be a pant stretcher....i wouldnt mind betting that Yamaha will follow suit if Honda builds (and sells) one of these machines.
How did Yamaha fail with the cross plane crank R1? It was meant as an evolution of the R1 with engineering and inspiration from a GP bike not a GP bike for the road as the Desmo or this new Honda is meant to be.
Someone remind me why Ducati has never used the Desmo as the basis for a WSBK machine. Is there any technical reason why they can't, or is it just a marketing choice to boost sales of the 1198, 1199? I think a WSBK Desmo would be well cool.
Yes, I thought about that when they went on sale, they made enough to homogulate it. I expected a privateer team like NCR to race them in WSBk.
