749 14 Tooth Front Sprocket

  1. Getting one of these fitted - this should be ok yes?? Better low speed manners and little more grunt. I dont thrash the bike like a loon, so do I have anything much to worry about? Also, does this affect the Speedo and if so which way?

  2. I did it on my 998 and went up to a 39 tooth in the rear and have been very happy.

  3. Yes if you have the stock 525 chain and not a 520.

  4. Just fitted a 14t front to my 999 last week.
    It's a fiddly job but can be done without splitting the chain, patience is the key.
    You will need to remove the clutch cylinder though.
    Definatley makes it behave better less agricultural at low speeds.
    And the increase in low down grunt is noticeable idea if you like the odd wheelie or so :upyeah:

  5. All being done by Carl Harrison together with full belt service, new tyres, bits of carbon and some new grips.
     
  6. The stock gearing on a 749 was 14/39 . Unless yours has been changed then it will have a 14 tooth sprocket on anyway .
     
  7. Ah. That scuppers that then. Unless a 13 tooth would do the trick - same principle I guess??

    Tbh, my assumption was 14. Carl just said we could try going 1 down at the front, rather than up at the back as then I'd need a new chain also (and its only a year old).
     
  9. If you could find one . They are rare and for good reason . Its to tight a turn for the chain. Go up a couple of teeth on the back that will do the same but you may need a new chain . 3 up on the back is the same as 1 down on the front .
