Hi guys I've just listed my 1198 s on eBay it has full 70mm termi system slash cuts carbon fibre everywhere with only 5168 miles on it. I've put her up at £8750 also has a power commander5 open clutch ect. I have the standard exhaust system and would let her go for around £7995 without the termi system So worth having a look. Reason for, sale is I'm after a MV F4. Anyone tell me anything about the F4 as I just like the look of them I'm not up on them at all anything to look out for.?
There was a very nice and rare F4 1078 RR312 for sale last week, £8900. Black and white, 2800 miles, two owners and one was me. It was listed in MCN
You need to check the rear hub has been changed ( up to 2009). Go onto mvagusta.net and ask the same questions. Wish I had kept the bike. Fuel line connectors prone to cracking, easy fix.
Shape is in the eyes of the beholder. Up to 2009 they ran hot. Various fixes, ecu, coolant, fans, larger impeller cured this
I had an F4 for years. The most focussed riding position I've ever come accross. Very uncomfortable. The 1098 felt like a cruiser in comparison. Beautiful to look at though.
I've got an F4 1000, the older one. Weighs as much as a planet, makes my 1198 seems like a Gold Wing in comfort, brakes are weaker but it handles and sounds amazing. And the looks.. The rear hubs go. And they run hot but so does an 1198 I'll never get rid of mine
mvagusta.net | the definitive mv agusta motorcycle source forum has lots of info. I think the newer ones have better rear hubs
A friend of mine bought one new when I had my original F4. When I looked at it, I could really see that the budget was a little tight at MV. The original bike had little MV logos on all the castings, an Ohlins steering damper, Brembo wheels etc. The new bike looked very cheap in comparison. It was a 10 plate so things may have changed. He did say it was very fast, but sold it soon after with 300 miles on it. He had a 1098S at the time, and putting them next to each other, you could see the difference in quality. The 1098S had Ohlins suspenders all round etc. I think the MV had a Showa rear shock and Marzocchi forks.
Agree that the '10 models look cheaper, the exhaust is plain nasty. My F4 feels better made than my 1198
Not sure, the MV just feels a tiny bit nicer. Maybe still getting used to the dry clutch although the MV sounds like a bag of spanners at tickover too. The MV feels a bit more solid. (With the weight it feels like it's made out of lead...)
To be honest I've not made up my mind 100 percent on getting an F4. I do really like the look of them though. I do really like my 1198 thought I'd try it on eBay and see what happens. I may even end up getting the 821 hypermtotard yet totally different bike I know but I do like them. A lot of fun at much slower speed which is a good thing. If I do end up with the F4 I think the 10 plate onwards are a better bike they are 10 kg lighter don't think they overheat like the earlier model but maybe they have built them on a budget when looking at things like the forks the newer ones look cheap!!
