Nurburgring This Weekend?!

  1. I gave my playstation and wheel away to my Dad a couple years back so it didn't waste more of my time. Wish I'd kept it now!

  2. Which route mate? The grey route on here??

  3. My good mate Andy, the bike in the video was destroyed just over a week ago in the dry. Hit oil/fluids at about 130mph from a crashed car. Rider was detained in the Hospital overnight but all ok, a very lucky guy, the bike less so at it smashed itself on the armco on both sides of the track.
The only real way to learn it is to ride it regularly or do a trip spread over more than a week and knock out the laps needed. However different people learn it over different numbers of laps. I know as i instruct there, but still occasionally ride bikes on it. Again if wet DO NOT try and do a lap on a sportsbike.

  4. Hope your pal is okay, Andy Carlile is it not? i've seen video's of Andy in the past, he certainly knows his way round the place!

  5. Indeed it is Andy Carlile. This year he was looking to go sub 7, but he has has a long struggle getting the bike just right, all three of his engines have been on the bench most of the year being rebuilt. Then when it's all working right he hits the spill. He will bounce back, he allways does. It's been a bad year for people i/we know out here with bike crashes. so so many fluid related crashes, Fortunatly all have survived. I also instruct with Andy and we know the track inmtimatly which is only aquired by years of studying the details of it. Infact the day he was out of hospital he was back on track on a car trackday. It gets into your blood.

  6. Glad he's okay bud.

Time for a new bike for Andy then!

  7. Yeah, once the insurance has been settled. he has another R1 he is building for racing, also he is building a turbo motor which was destined for the bike that got crashed. So he may well end up getting another R1 and following his plans thru. He would be lost on a new model bike as all in encyclopedic knowledge is with the bike he has build up since 2007

  9. I was going to say would it not be easier to buy a newer model.

You boys have some balls riding the ring at those speeds.

  10. Yeah, and slower than the ZX10 the same guy rode several years ago for another well viewed Youtube lap. More power but slower!!!!

  11. Cochem bends. One of my favourites, eh @MaDProFF lol

  12. Ha just realised prof wasnt there that year with me and @Pete1950 lol

  13. Good route from Cochem to the 'Ring starts just off the bottom of this map, then takes the 259 to Buchel - Ulmen - Kelberg - Mullenbach - Nurburg.

  16. Got to bed at 0230hrs after changing the oil and the fairings, at least this is 12hrs before I'm leaving. Normally it looks like this two hours before leaving!! Needs a clean. Best use it for work for a little shake down I reckon :)

  17. You need to have mirrors, no mirrors no ridey the ring.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  18. Yes. Essential. And the roads around are easily as good (better IMHO)

  19. And is that a Marks and Spencer's carrier bag just 'tossed away' in your pic? You must be rolling in money?

  20. I really wish I had your garage Drinky :) I'd probably still manage to fill it with old baking trays and m&s carrier bags though so maybe it's good I've only got a single one!
