There are 3-4 people on here who are constantly say they want a streetfighter but honestly, I can't help but think they wouldnt have stopped selling it if they were in such demand. Not meaning that in an argumentative way, it's just that money talks, the 848 SF Is potentially even a little too expensive
The problem is majority of riders don't understand how underrated the streetfighter is. The KTM took off really well so what did Ducati do wrong if anything ? Maybe nobody wants the smaller engine. I have 3 bikes and they have been ridden back to back the SF & EVO both 848 cc are far better in the corners than my 1199s which feels like tractor trying to turn in to a corner but once there it's superb, it's just the initial turning in. The 899 was better at cornering the 1299 is better and more comfortable than the 1199. My Panni will be up for sale in the new year
I just feel that the 1199 engine (and step in power) dominates the riding experience but that's for another thread. Just wanted to say that the same can be applied to the Ducati sport classic, it was way ahead of its time. Shame!
Is it an age thing? Where once your back starts to protest to sports bike positions you look for the same thrills in a comfier package. I can see myself looking for a super naked in about 10 years. But as if now I don't know I just don't ever look at them and think wow. This might sound draft but I think somewhere in my brain I think you are getting more for your money with a sports bike as you are getting fairings. I remember being bemused with how wet I would get in the rain on my STR after having commuted on sort bikes for so long.
Also worth noting that spotsbikes made into 'super nakeds' just don't work. The Tuono RSV4 is a perfect example of it, I'm sure dynamically it's great but it just wasn't designed for it. The Superduke looks like it was built as that first, not as a RC8R And flat bars stuck straight on it.
They didn't have much of a problem selling the "old" model did they, it was bound to get a price hike can't really see what the problem is s/h values of the old model won't plummet, win win and still a fair bit cheaper than the full fat pani
In all honesty my 848 EVO is plenty comfy enough. No back ache and no wrist ache so it's not the case of needing an upright to alleviate those problems. It is just so much more fun. Oh and the few comments earlier about 959 having the same looks as the 1299 I have not seen a picture that confirms that yet. There was a side view of a matte White panigale with its number taped over but the Arse end looked exactly like the current 899/1199
Having just bought one I would disagree Best road bike I have ever ridden and (in my opinion) the new shape looks great. The new 1100 with the extra torque over the RSV makes it unbeatable on the road. Regarding the age thing, at 29 I must be old before my time! I like doing big mileage including track days and got fed up with the jockey position - I still don't get why people who don't do track days buy sports bikes.
I notice the price of the 1299 has jumped up in the last few days, no doubt preparing everyone for the increased cost of the 959.
