  1. My day off so had a great day on the new to me 1198.... popped into on yer bike Aylesbury ducati for a fairing clip that was missing ... 87p woo hoo
So the asked how much the 7500 mile service would be ... they would need it for a DAY AND A HALF .... wtf and it would be £900 plus vat sir .... hahahahahahahahaha they said it with a straight face as well ...... im so glad i can do my own services.

£ 1000 for a service ...get real ffs

  2. It was a long time ago but I didn't have a good experience with that place - although I doubt anyone who was there then still is!

To your point - to be fair - servicing your own stuff at home incurs completely different overheads to that of a garage business.

It might cost you one or two teabags and some milk whereas garage owner's costs, including staff, power, equipment, building costs, training, etc, etc, etc, probably cost a bit more than two teabags per day.

    Just sayin...

  3. Paid £330 for my 1098 a couple of years ago including belts. Never had to have any valve work done yet. It does sound like a lot of moolah.

  5. How many hours does it take, 5 ??

  6. 12 hours if he was going on a day and a half .... poo to that

  7. Using Ducati Glasgow web site on servicing as a guide, the price you have been quoted is excessive. This price variation is not unusual so if you want a dealer price you need to shop around or find a good independant or specialist. A major service is not beyond some owners but for the majority of us mortals, I couldn't consider it. Andy

  8. Tbh i think its way excessive .... this time of year, lack of work .... lets hike up the price .... ridiculous

  9. THAT is a bargain! Especially if it included the cost of the belts/oil/filters/labour!

  13. My dealer does 50% off labour during November & December. I wait until then to have the bikes serviced.

  14. I think prices at some larger dealers will vary depending on what they've got on, if they're stacked then they'll hike up the price, makes it worth the while pushing it through whilst juggling the stresses of a fully booked calendar.

Others with more time on their hands or relaxed approach are more likely to work with you on it. Normally guys with less overheads and a schedule managed by themselves are the best.

You get their full attention and a fair job.

  15. Just checked out the Moto V website. Who's duke is in the background on this pic. Christ, lean it over a bit more. That's embarrassing, has it got stabilisers!?!

  18. I'll hopefully be taking the 848 to Louigi Moto end of the month for the 2 year belt service. I've heard positive things about them. Was your experience good Spoonz?

  19. Obviously the bike is out of warranty so.

A, DIY. Keep note a of miles work done and receipts for the parts used
    B, Independent.
    C Dealer.

Don't get to hung up on belt changes every 2 years, I used to go to 3 years and I know of other Ducati's that have gone much further.
