ive tried to using .gif files once or twice to create an animated avatar but they never seem to work on this site. can anyone out there walk me through it? What is the maximum file size incidentally? Cheers folks
not too bad mate thanks. i had a consultation with the surgeon yesterday and he thinks i may still have some nerve impingement as im getting quite a lot of discomfort in my shoulders, mostly in my left shoulder funnily enough. most of my pain was in the right side previously. im still physio to restore the use of my right arm which is coming on gradually. i start physio tomorrow on my neck. my larynx is about an inch over to the right so swallowing can be awkward. he thought that this may be due to internal swelling and also tension caused by the incision into the muscle in my throat. i know that this is one of the compications that can occur wth the surgery so time will tell i suppose. the surgeon reckons it will be at least 2 yrs before i make as full a recovery as possible. i had some x rays yesterday and ive still got some fractures in the vertebrae above and below the prosthetic disc. these were caused by vertebrae making contact with one another due to the prolapsed disc. i really hope i dont have to live with the pain in my shoulders for the rest of my life. still, its only been 5 weeks since my operation. for the time being,i wont be getting on 2 wheels but thats the least of my worries tbh.
Unfortunately it does take time. And take my advice and don't push yourself too much. You could do more harm than good. It took me a year to feel fully fit after my operation on my back. And the consultant told me to expect that kind of time lag. However I was back riding after about two months (did a track day three months after my op  ), and I was snowboarding 7 months after, which wasn't too bad given I'm an old giffer
Probably a file size limit (kB) as well as dimensions (pixels x pixels) to the image that you need to meet. Not sure if it will block animated GIFs but it potentially could.
thats encouraging, but wasnt your treatment for the lumbar spine? i went for a short cycle ride last week (about 2 miles) but had to go for a lie down when i got back home!
I had a malignant tumour on my back and they had to dig it out (so to speak). The wound/scar was 150mm long x 100mm wide x 18mm deep when it was done and I had a chunk of muscle taken away, and it was close to my spine. Though the length and width of the scar are still the same, the depth is now only 4-5mm'ish. Thanks to pies no doubt.
[Thread hijack continuation] Remind me, El Funko, how did you get in that state in the first place? I don't remember. I mean, you were doing all that sport - did it have side-effects? Accident of some sort? Just a thing out of the blue?
came out of nowhere Glidd.i had some aching in my shoulders that i put down to age..didnt think much of it but it was persistant..it felt like pulled muscles. one day i was riding my mountain bike on the road and bang, i felt a huge pain between my shoulder blades. it got worse with every second until i could support my weight on the handlebars and i nearly fell off the bike. i walked home a couple of miles and by the time i was back there my pain had got even worse...went to the docs and he thought id torn my superspinatus muscle and he fobbed me off with ibuprofen (id already taken to no effect)>>it got worse and worse and i ended up in A&E at 4 in the morning..and that was the beginning of 8 months of hell and pain like ive never known. ive had a broken bones, various injuries, air miles over the bars of a fireblade, air miles over the bars of my Duke, punch ups, piercings, hurtful swear words and all the rest of it but take it from me mate, compressed nerve roots and bits of bone and disintegrated disc debris on your brain stem is another whole world of pain, not to mention the agony in my arms and shoulders which became more debilitating than the spinal injury and has lead to frozen shoulders. as ive mentioned, ive also had substantial muscle wastage and went from 92kg to 74kg in a couple of months. my right arm went from 17" to 12" and still looks a bit like a pipe cleaner. Not good mate.
Christ. Poor you. Just shows how fragile and temporary our wellbeing is. I wouldn't worry over-much about the muscle wastage. What looks like a pipecleaner to you probably doesn't to most people and if you're your usual charming witty self, women just won't care. When you've recovered, you'll be able to build yourself back up again in any case. Pain - it's one of those things that until you have it, you can't really imagine it properly. I don't want any of your stuff. Toothache immediately prior to root canal treatment (some build up of gas in the tooth due to a decaying nerve: "There should be a nerve here, but yours looks like old engine oil") is about as bad as I've had and that is easily as bad as I want.
i wonder if thats the same build up of gas that i had when i went on a Guiness bender the other week?
