  1. Evening
    What coolant do you use?
    TIA

  2. Changed mine last week when we did the belts and valves. Was advised just to get any designed for aluminium engines so just got a litre bottle for £5 at the local car parts shop. Should have been diluted 1/3 but for some reason, only took 2 litres to fill.

  3. Diluted with tap water or distilled?

  4. Just used normal tap water as it won't be there in long.

  5. Got a leak?

  6. It seems best to use distilled water as I notice the 250LC Yamaha that I am currently working on uses this mixed with anti freeze. Considering this is a 30 plus year old bike the radiator is still in perfect condition, yet when working on Ducati's I do notice the difference with those using ordinary tap water.

Distilled water is cheap compared to something like waterless coolant and the cost is added to if you have used water as this has to be purged from the system and that adds about another £30 to the bill.

  16. Ah, I follow. Saw in Tesco today 2.5L deionised water for £1.25. Water is full of limescale down my way.

Think I will just get that ready mix, cheap enough
