You Know That Saying....?

  1. "Ducati - Making Mechanics Out of Riders Since 1946"

Today. Sitting at lights on the Monster with a friend on the back. My sat nav mount was loose and in the course of trying to get it off and pass it to her I stalled the bike. Tried to restart, but "not today signor". I had plenty of electricity and I had a fuel pump but no starter.

Rather than bollocking about trying to fix it there and then, we decided to go for our planned pie and a milkshake blowout to think about it and to call the breakdown people. The recovery company said we will TRY to be with you within 3 hours. Eff that, I thought, and so once the pie and milkshake induced torpor had worn off, I went back and fixed it myself.

Somehow, as Ducatis move in mysterious ways their wonders to perform, the little white connector block (from the starter switch, I presume) had just fallen off the starter relay.

As I write this (from home) 3 hours and 10 minutes later, the recovery people still haven't called to say they can't find me and my bike...... hmmmm

    The errant connector block

  9. 3 hours, was it one of the well known breakdown recovery ?

  10. Nah. It's an add on to my insurance. I think they probably have contracts with different local firms around the country as it's never been the same people twice. To be fair, the last time I needed them, only for a jump start thankfully, they had someone with me within 30 mins.

  11. ahh that connector put a dab of silicone gasket seal on the connector plug then push it in and let it set stops it vibrating loose :upyeah:

  17. Getting old does that

  18. Lol. Tbh, I was getting worse the older I got though. Just to give you an idea - I ended up having to go to 4 different houses last Christmas Day, and none of them were family visits. :Woot:

Then, I met her a few days after New Years, and I know it sounds soppy, we almost immediately fell for each other and I just didn't feel the need to do that sort of thing anymore. There's a pic of her in my gallery.
