1200 Fitted Ducati Engine Bars- Question

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by gregc, Oct 11, 2015.

  1. Last weekend I fitted Evo tech radiator, oil cooler, cylinder head & exhaust guards - good bit of kit & hides the stone chips on the radiator etc! I also fitted the Ducati Engine Guards that I have got painted red to match the frame on my 2013 Pikes Peak. My question is that the bars came with a spacer/washer that looked like it should go between the frame and the bars on the replacement engine bolt. I have not fitted it as it left a small gap between the frame and the bars- should I have fitted this? Without it the ba s butt up to the frame nicely but I can fit the washer if recommend. I had to clean off all of the nice new red paint inside the engine bars at the front to be able to push the front connecting rod into the bars as well.

  2. That spacer (if installed) keeps the bars from marring the finish on the frame if you intend to take them off some time in the future. the tapered end of the washer goes towards the bike, with the flat end towards the crash bars.

  7. Im thinking of getting the same Evotech parts for my DVT, is it difficult to fit? I ask as I've not yet figured out how to get all the front fairing off....

  8. No problems fitting the full set of Evotech guards (radiator, oil cooler & head/engine). There is a trick or two to removing the panels however the process is covered quite well in the instructions (available as PDFs on the Evotech website: radiator, oil cooler & head/engine). Buying all three together works out very cost effective - now they are all released.

The only problem I've found so far is with the head/engine guard which seems to just touch a fender extender on the rear of the front mudguard, when hard on the brakes. I've not felt anything when braking yet so I'm tempted to see how it much the extender gets marked over time.

PS. There are some good videos of DVT panel removal / installation on the Ducati.ms website.
