Hi folks thinking of buying a Hyper 821 but before I do anyone know anything on the new Hyper that's coming out next year? Will it be just a bigger bore or stroke or a completely new engine?
I don't 'know' but I guess it depends on the frame, if it's staying with a trellis frame it will stay as the same architecture as the current engine, which can easily be stroked as its used to being either a 848 or 1198 config, the only way they would go with the superquadro engine is if they went monococ which should be a huge new model! Sorry, probably doesn't help u!
Phoned Ducati Lincoln they offered me a new 821 for £8200 brand new. Not bad I think but if the new hypers are completely different then I don't know. Think I will just sit back for a while and see what info comes up. I'm sure there will be plenty of good deals on the 821
As the crappy weather is coming and having decent days to get the bike out will be rare you might as well sit back and wait. Or at least wait for more info to surface..
It will be interesting to see if the extra cc is to give it just the extra power or will the extra power be sapped by more emission control extra wieght of cats etc. Either way i am dying to see it.
You might also like to have a think about how long you plan to keep the bike. The launch of the new model with the larger engine may adversely effect residual values of the 821 model. Over time this could well even out as depreciation plateaus, but you might be advised to take this into consideration if you are likely to change the bike within a couple of years.
