I'm considering breaking my 1198s. No serious bites on eBay or the forum so if I get enough interest I will break her. Please call me on 07903607391 thanks Simon.
You've already got a multistrada engine Gary. I may end up waiting until spring then try selling it again. Trouble is I'm skint now buying all these Ducatis
It does mate I bought an 848 earlier this year with a blown engine sold most of it now but made strong money breaking it.
The guy in the midlands elite superbikes does it all the time must pay him to do so. Then there's Rich moto italia.
Broke a few Hondas and a couple of ktms a few years ago made good money on those. They were cheap bikes this isn't think I'm better off waiting until next spring then re advertise!!!!
sit down and list the parts. Look on fleabay at the buy it now price and then take 25% off to get a reasonable estimate and realistic sales turnaround. I have just broke even on a rolling chassis, but I kept the mag wheels, rs coolant tank, alloy race tank and corse shock. I even have parts still left to sell so I will be in profit money wise and have the parts I wanted for free.
Nice 1 Disco. I need to get £7.800 back on this confident I can do it. Problem I have it's a mint bike and when I look at what these are advertised at shame it hasn't sold. I've just bought a lovely high spec 996 and won 998 on eBay both well worth keeping. I'm more into the older shape of the 916 plus if I want to keep my licence the 1198 needs to go!
In your booties I'd seriously consider breaking it, this time of year there's more activity and spend with garage/shed denizens than riding.
Can't see it myself once you factor in your labour , selling fees, posting / packaging it all up & the time it take actually getting every thing sold . I know it can work but most breakers are breaking damaged bikes, finance repos , and let's face it sometimes nicked bikes too ,so have less to achieve money wise I'm kinda in the same position as couldn't see mine either , but gonna hold till next year, And it's sacrilege breaking up such a beautiful bike in the first place , however if you do go this route it will be interesting to see if it works , best of luck anyway
