Went out for a ride today and after about 50 miles it broke down on me! Started misfiring slightly and was a bit "wooly" for a mile or two, then the engine light came on. Then it wouldn't Rev and at the next junction it died. Wouldn't restart as battery was dead - just the dreaded "click". Came home in the AA van of shame. Boo! Any ideas?
Agree that it sounds like the battery ran out of charge...classic symptoms just like I experienced on my 748 in 1998 when the reg/rectifier fried itself. Do they still suffer from this billy basic problem? I would have thought that they would have sorted this by now! How do I check if it's the regulator? Where do you get the MOSFET regulators from?
Richard, If you can get the bike started, I can help with checking the charging system is doing it's job correctly.
Bike is on charge at the moment, we'll see if it starts tomorrow. Assistance with checking charging would deffo be worth a free dinner!! R
a reverberating plethora of little helpers all ready to assist R :smileys: have you got a meter yourself?
I have a meter but never had great success at using it for anything bar basic voltage measurement and continuity...all the gear...no idea!
E-TING MOSFET REGULATOR RECTIFIER For KAWASAKI ZX-10R NINJA ZX10R ZX1000 04-07: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike you'll need ; Triumph part number T2500676 adapter lead. Thanks to @chrisw
That's a bargain...have you tried one yourself? Where do I buy the Triumph lead from? Is installation obvious for a non electrician type person?
Not tried one, planning to for current (sorry) project. @bettes has fitted one. I'd imagine the lead would come Triumph dealer. Doddle to swap out...
well for the charging/not charging test that is all you need! so many vids to choose from but here is one (nitty gritty starts at 3 mins in though)
