  3. I don't get why some people feel they have to decide they like one shape and automatically slag the other off, they are both lovely IMO. I have been lucky enough to have 2 900 carbies and 2 900 ies and currently have a beautiful yellow SL . Based on many thousands of miles on them I feel the ie is better to ride in nearly all quantifiable areas , faster, better ride and handling etc although they are less comfortable, but they all make me (and hopefully you) smile, every ride feels like a proper occasion and surely you cant ask for much more than that .

  4. Do u not have it any more then?

I like the newer ones, just not the rubber on the back of the tank

  5. IE proponents like me probably feel we have to defend our bikes by attacking. I have no beef with the rusty old ones that crack frames and look like mk1 cbr 600s

  6. I might get a set of those CBR mirrors for my bikes, set it off a treat I reckon! I do like the IE's, but I like the early 90's bikes better, there some of the first bikes I can remember.

  10. You forgot to mention the big slabby front mudguard, the square seat, the fairing mounted indicators, the logo above the headlight and the square grab rail.

Anyway, the carby SS is an iconic deign. Or it would be except for the fact that the CBR came out a year earlier....I was working as a Honda salesman when it came out and thought the Honda looked numpty even then. And then when I saw the SS for the first time I thought wtf - the Europeans are finally copying the Japanese. But they copied the wrong bike.

  12. Bet my IE is faster than your carby........

  13. next you'll be slapping each other with your white cotton gloves and challenging each other to a juell(might have spelt that wrong)

  14. You cant use that argument with the SSs. If speed was the reason to buy you`d have bought the 851/916/999 .

  15. Why did you pick on the IE owner to make that point? The carby owning desmoquattro started that one.....anyway whatever you have is worth making faster. Just so happens mine is the fastest [emoji12]

  16. I was only pointing out that, once finished, my carby will be faster and handle better than standard. As theres not much in it when the bikes are standard, I am making the point that itll be better than a standard ie. If yours is a supa modified ie, then you may have the upper hand, speed wise. Carbies still look the dogs baws though. The ie, does not...:fearscream:

  17. I prefer the ie as well, just making the point that you dont buy these to boast abut bhp, top speed or standing quarter times.

  18. :tonguewink:
