Hi folks, I'm Matt from Doncaster and I'm here to learn a bit more about Ducati's, particularly the Multistrada. I've been looking for a unicorn bike, as nimble and fun as my 2013 street triple R but with more comfort and touring ability for my slightly knackered hip and I think the Multistrada could be it. I very nearly bought a Tracer from SMC Sheffield but they didn't have a red one in and the suspension was a bit of a joke. And I kept getting distracted by the other red bikes in there. Anyway, I like the look of this forum so far and will have a better look around A quick pic of the bike I have at the moment, ignore the garden, it is all slate chippings and planters now...
Oh yesssssss a red newbie :hearteyes: Hello and your very welcome into the mad house Make sure it's very red your new multi  Watch out for the locals :Clown:
Thanks for the welcome Nah, no brass in Donny lol not here anyway, I'm looking at the older 1200 bikes and seeing some that don't look bad at all, servicing seems reasonable as a diy prospect and I know a local Ducati expert for advice so I will pick his brains when I see him on Thursday evening. I think my bike + £5K should net me a decent bike, maybe even one with the LED headlights... I can try... But putting the cart back behind the horse, test ride, I will have to see how willing SMC are to offer me one after not buying that Tracer.
I found a pair locally, a 2011 S touring and a 2013 base model... Sat on both and like it. That shop is not interested in offering test rides though, you can have one on a new bike for £35 and must return it with a full tank. Also I found a review that got a laugh or 2 so will link that.. MCN need to watch that and take some notes.
Welcome. Multi will be quite different from the ST. If a dealership is not interested in giving a serious prospective purchaser a test ride, go elsewhere.
J&S Doncaster really is a shop of 2 halves, the clothing/accessory's side is spot on, the bike sales...
a full tank? do they query the mileage or set a time limit? if not do a track day on it and sell a few unseen parts to get ya 35 back...
Well, after 2 hours chatting and going over numbers and the bike I am riding this tomorrow.. Ducati Multistrada 1200S | eBay Chizel, J&S check the mileage, and set a time limit (1 hour), and on the one bike I tested from them they had the key out and were opening the filler before I could get my helmet off to make sure that I had filled it up... With SMC it's "you're okay for an hour or two, don't rush back though, if you're a bit over 2 it's okay we know what the traffic is like (wink) oh and just don't bring it back bone dry"
Oh dear, 50 miles on this and I MUST have it, although I had to bring it home to adjust the gear shifter. While I was at home my dad showed up, he likes it, although he did say it was a bit quiet for a Ducati. If i just fit an end can it wont be much louder will it? And a de-cat would need a remap? So I might as well save up and get the tuneboy treatment to add cruise control and a quickshifter..... Not even signed any paperwork yet and i'm modding it Edit 13/11 I cant believe how excited i'm getting, they tell me i'm a grown up... Paperwork is mostly done, I pick it up on Monday... Just got an insurance quote though, F'in spiders, I'm sure I can do better than that.
