Ah, OK scrub that then.......its for a track bike eliminates rake loads of wiring. as you were then a 998 loom would be the best bet then but rare.....it means you can use the stick coils rather than the older bulkier ones
Not disputing the helpful comments, what annoyed me was the comment yesterday morning... nothing more. He doesn't know me from Adam (and vice versa) and I am here to learn about Ducati's and build a cool bike and share my experiences with those that may be inspired to do something themselves or just want to window shop. So when you get someone new with a project it is usually nice to be warm and welcoming, or did I misunderstand the principle of the build and projects aspect to this forum?Anyway, the whistle has just blown so playtime is over... oh and did I mention today is my birthday, so you have to be nice....
If I were you I'd stop buying stuff and sit down to work out what you'll need. As has been said, quad injectors have been tried before by people with lots of Ducati tuning experience and not been found benificial. If I were you, the cheapest way forward would be to buy a complete bike. Buying a bike from parts will almost certainly work out more expensive in the long run. Simple things like looms/electric, and even headlamps cost a bomb on ebay! There's so much more to a bike than the frame and motor, and the little bits all cost.
yes thank you, I already have worked out what I need ok, fair point noted but still some thing to try... to put that comment simply, you are not me and def not the ideal behind this project.... really? my frame cost me a 5th of what they are normally going for, and yes it has it's V5 and has had no accidents or insurance issues. are you serious? not all of us are inept brain dead morons who like flashy blingy carbon trinkets and do actually know what happens inside the engine...
You are being very defensive, all that have commented on your project so far are respected members with quite a lot of knowledge between them , you have your own thoughts as to the way you want to go but you can also learn a lot from these lads, they have been there and done it. I have 20+ years experience in riding, tuning, racing, touring, and re-building Ducatis. If you're not interested in peoples advice or suggestions that's fine. I wish you the best with your project but I'll not be contributing to this thread again.
oh I am very interested but there seems to be an underlying current that the established members have a condescending tone towards new members, that's fine... I am happy for you to have the experience you have, i clearly have non... (well when it comes to Ducati's I freely admit I know nothing, hence being here to learn) attitudes like yours stop new blood coming in, if you had bothered to read the 1st post on my thread you would see what the idea is... so commenting that "buy a complete bike" makes you sound like a condescending pratt... I welcome you not adding to my thread... yes I could not agree more... and their knowledge for Ducati is welcomed... not the egotistical condescending comments...

Hi Restricted, I understand the ethos is to build a complete bike from parts (on ebay) without buying a complete rolling chassis or a "runner". You said you had a budget , do you mind telling us what this is for the completed build. As you say it will be road legal --- will you be using soley Ducati parts from current/older models adapted to fit or will you consider using non Duke parts . I race in a somewhat limited capacity and know pretty well how to handle a bike and do basic tuning work on my bike, mainly with bolt on extra's i.e exhausts slipper clutches and weight removal, shock and suspension work , but know ferk all in comparison to others on here. But I look foward to seeing pics of the build along with detailed assesments and costings. Best of luck Regards Pete.
Hi Nick, Tell me about it! But my 851 is still well on budget to the asking price of 1992 851's........... But i have now found the original engine which is way up north under a bench bought as a spare off the original owner of my unfinished restro project!
What sort of Twat asks for advice on a forum, then ignores it and says, "I" know best, and takes the piss, after admitting he knows nothing about Ducatis ? What school do you go too ? Perhaps if you hadn't have been so "upitty" you might have gotten better results. So take a breath, listen to whats been said, after all, they are only trying to help, and they have many, many years of experience between them. Please feel free to ignore me as well.
bit harsh that , this is just the thing that gets Ducati owmers/forums a bad name as elitist and aloof, throttle back a bit guys if you cant give and take without being extreme then there's no hope for a decent thread build,and I for one would like to see how it turns out. The guys only asking for help, ffs , . I'd say it's his call on how he builds and what he uses ,and not how you want it built. Besides if you dont like it there are other threads to view.
