Rossi Retires

  1. Just out of intrest who will stop supporting motogp when he does retire, without turning into a my dads bigger than yours argument.

  2. Me, probably watch more bsb instead

  3. The whole Malaysia incident/Valencia penalty has soured MotoGP for me. I'm no conspiracy theorist but I do believe Marquez is far from blameless. I have tickets for Silverstone next year and will probably go although the trips to Barcelona and San Marino are now very much on the back burner. We have been supporting some rounds of the BSB for a few years so I'm minded to go to more rounds instead. Rossi is no angel but he brings something the metronomic Lorenzo and the antics of Marquez do not nor do I see anyone with the flair in the new comers - yet. Both Danny and Scott still need to establish their credentials in the premier class. Andy

  4. All bike racing is fab :D so long as there isn't a run away leader all the time (unless it's a brit)

  5. As above, I'd be more inclined not to watch if there were no Brits in the pack. If anyboy else left, it would not change me watching.

  7. I have been watching bike GP's since 1977, there was a time before Rossi and there will be a time after he goes. Regardless of the era there is always some good riders and battles worth watching. I wouldn't miss him.

  8. despite what has happened im still a big fan of MM... for me he changed motogp for the better and all other riders had to adapt or ... even loz has to get his elbow down now... i will miss rossi as i've said in many a post but i dont think the future is too bad. what has happened is proof that there is life in the sport i think...there is some GOOD riders coming up and they aint all company men towing the line.. said before mavrick will be a force and he dont mince about. miller despite my hatred for all thing aussie will be up there if his manners dont prevent future advancement. tito rabat is good as is sam lowes for ya British flavor.. a gent and fast as fuck...
in my humble opinion as much as i will miss rossi there will be a future king.. its all good

  9. I think the next 10 years the sport will grow bigger and better, hopfully we wont get any run away champions as i think that just kills the sport like the doohan era, although we have some good brits i think were not going to see a contender for a long time, saying that a top 3 is something to be proud of.

  10. we need a semi agree thingy... agree mostly but think the sport or any sport needs a run away champ.. as long as he/she has a lil style... there does have to be someone for the masses to see.. a different winner every week would be great for those that know what they are looking at but to advance the sport you need an icon.. rossi for better or worse was that man... MM could be.... buy he like loz is not coming across real good....

  11. I've got a suspicion Marquez will dominate for the next 10 years..i hope I'm wrong, or he might do a Rossi in his early days and hold back for a while just to make the racing more interesting.. although i think the competition is much stronger now and there's a lot of great riders coming through from the other classes

  12. I will like many continue to watch the races regardless of who is racing as long as its not a procession.

I think the sport needs more people like Rossi who have a bit of charisma, all of the present grid are without a doubt talented rider's who are brilliant to watch during the race, but when it comes to the interview's or other media activites seem dull and not able to hold the viewers interest.

Perhaps it may just be down to their own personalities or the country they originate from because the spanish guys to me all come over as really dull and don't seem to engage the audience the way the italians do.

Paddock certainly need more people like Rossi and previously Edwards who actually do not respond like robots and show a bit of enthusiasm for the sport they love.

  13. For me i dont give a shit how funny they are in a interview,or wot nationality they are it all boils down to the riding, after all stoner was no sports personality of the year but i would rather watch him ride any day of the week rather than edwards.

  14. I have been watching since the Sheene days on and off. Really enjoyed the Rainey/Schwantz times and then when Rossi started in 125s started following him. Also Pedrosa all the way through and others like iannone, Miller, Kent etc.

So I would carry on as long as there was some excitement in the racing. Used to like MM for his riding style but not anymore. Shock I even supported Stoner in the lower classes until he got to Motogp and started talking a lot more. Could not stand his whiney voice......

  16. Not me, i'll keep watching.

For a start i'd lose my excuse for hours on the sofa during a Sunday and theres still good racing to watch.

Besides, Im waiting for stoner to return ;)

  17. Just saw a repeat of the FIM awards ceremony that was last night and Rossi did not show up to collect his runner up medal.
    Maybe he has already retired?

  18. No he was just having a mard ;)

  19. I think the promoters are more worried about Vale leaving than any individual is likely to be. I am a huge fan and have been since he first showed up in 125's.I loved racing before he arrived and i will when he retires but it will be less of an event without him. Before that, Capirex, locatelli, Max, Schwantz, Niall Mc. Etc
The sport itself is the biggest reason to go and watch. Most of us i'm sure have watched club racing and stood in the wet and wind watching people we wouldn't recognise in the bar afterwards.

  20. In my opinion after his antics this season , the quicker he goes the better, he's taking up a seat that could be put to better use by future prospects, i.e. Maverick. But as long as the tshirts are selling, well that's all that matters ?
