Ducati 2016 World Première Chat Thread

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Rob, Oct 30, 2015.

  1. Bit of a mixed bag from this end: Scrambler: minor range tweaks - Domenicali did have the grace to look slightly embarrassed at the guff he'd obviously been told to spout. Multistrada Enduro: Looks better, imho, than the standard DVT, so very nice if it fits your need. But aluminium side panels rather than bouncy plastic - really? How many real adventure riders would trust one over an Adventure or KTM though? And how many of us are capable of actually using a 160bhp/245kg machine off-road anyway? (I'm certainly not and I ride forest tracks most days). Multistrada Pike's Peak: Öhlins good. Passive Öhlins less so. Hyperthingies: whatever… Pani 959: If you want a sports bike, this will probably be one of the very best. But what is it with those foul excresence Euro4 exhausts? X-Diavel: Now I'm not a cruiser type. But this looks well-considered, stunning and usable. I see their point about "premium finishes" on the engine - does that mean paint that will actually stay on? And it's only taken them 28 years to hide away the coolant hoses…

finally, and OT: I can't see MCN staying in business much longer - quite apart from the plummeting quality of features and journalism, they've consistently failed to understand the online world and here we have THE major trade show in the motorcycle world, but no live Twitter feed or blog stream. In fact no news today whatsoever.

  2. Minor range tweaks to the scrambler? It's a new 399cc "Scrambler 400" which is quite a big thing!

Scrambler 1200 will be next year.

  3. Have to agree; you don't see any of the other manufacturers doing these, let alone getting the online coverage that Ducati have had this afternoon.

  4. Why would Americans want a bike that is desgned to go round bends ? Andy

  5. That was all over pretty quickly. I tuned in an hour after it started, reckoning I could catch up and see the thing from the beginning. Wrong. It was all over and you can't even see the film of it on their website yet. Hmmm. They do realise that most people are at work at 4:30 CET?

Hopefully there will be a rerun so we can watch it again.

  8. I have just watched a rerun on Ducati.com,well put together but a little cheesy,Diavel looks a premium product, liked the Baylis flat tracker the pikes peak was pretty, enduro was the star of the show for me, but i will never buy any of the mentioned bikes,i would go as far to say at this moment in time the only Ducati's i would buy would be the 10/1198 or a 999.

  9. its back up now. Can watch it from the homepage link Ducati Forum

  10. It was somewhat toe-curlingly cringeworthy at times but that's the new Ducati.

New Scramblers are a good addition and I'm sure will make many sales for them.

The 959 looks a real horror show with those pipes. Genuinely burst out laughing when I saw it.

  11. I have to say that, in my opinion, it was more "style over substance"
Domenicali alluded to that by saying the brand would develop up, down and sideways.

  12. I have not interest until they do a 1264 (or whatever!!!) scrambler. I may as well build my own........Cat C scrambler anyone????????

  13. My nephew loves the 400cc scramblers. He's just about to get rid of his 125 KTM Duke. THink thats the target market...and sebastian the graphic designer who lives down the road from us. He's vegan.

  14. Not much there for me. The XDiavel looked fantastic but not my kind of bike. The Multi Enduro was ok but far to off road orientated , leave that to BMW and KTM. Lets have a full on tour Multi like the old GT but with big tank and aluminium luggage.

  15. Just seen the Ducati Presentation (steve Jobs Apple style)- its superb! Some great changes to some already great bikes, Ducatis are just getting better!

  19. They would have been better if they had put them under the seat unit...

  20. I can see a major market developing in bringing in the 'proper' underslung pipes from the US and elsewhere…
