959 New 959

  2. Damn, I thought there was some japes or it was a test mile but that EU 959 looks really bad. Ducati know so too, the US version gets the underslung pipes of old.

    Buying a 959? Budget for pipes!

    Well 899 owners will be happy, they'll have a depreciation free bike for the foreseeable future

  5. Hmm so does this mean the 899EU goes up in price on the used market? There are some countries with strict laws where you just can't slap an aftermarket exhaust which is not homolagated.
     
  6. From January 2017 all new bikes registered must conform to Euro 4.
    Methinks Ducati are going to have to be doing a lot of free Akras to sell this one. the 1299 will be the same this time next year.

  8. 899 is surely a future classic. I might keep mine now and advertise it in years to come for "slightly more than they were new"

  9. Its obviously not something they wanted to do but something they had no choice in.

    Problem is the Akras that revert back to under the engine is a full system only so going to be expensive, by which time you would be getting close to 1299 base model prices.

  13. I wonder how many people on this forum were considering purchasing the 959 model but now have decided not to now because of the "exhaust gate " issue ?

  15. scandalous, i had an 899 and got an RSV4 which i love but i miss my baby pani and was looking forward to a lot more than this monstrosity!!! If they have to do this to the 1299 its the end for the 2 cylinder Dukes
     
  16. Lest we forget: Euro 4 applies to all manufacturers. Expect ugly ass exhausts from all your favourite marques in the near future.

    And it won't kill sales; the 959 will sell and I bet my lovely legs that it sells quite well. We'll just move past the rank pipes and get on with it. As always.

  17. I was thinking about for later in the year (seeing as my 899 is just 15 months old) but it's a bit "meh" in my eyes.

    As and when I'm ready to change it could be the 1299 I go for. Maybe. Who knows :)

  18. Ducati should have had a word with VW, I'm sure they would have some spare dodgy software knocking about that could have helped with emissions instead of using the new exhaust
