  2. My 1199 still has the original exhaust, sounds fantastic, don't see the need to replace it, well done Ducati Design team you have given the customer what they wanted. The question with the 959 will be "Do I spend another few thousand pounds on an exhaust or go for a base 1299 with free Akros" I know what I'll be buying. The 999, 848, 1098, 1198 all had underseat exhausts, the 959 is a step backwards and looks like a Honda VFR.

  3. Glad I'm not the only one seeing vfr.

  4. The Italians should do the styling and hand it over to the Germans to make it happen, it seams like its the other way round with the 959!

Lazy designers?? Surely they can do better than that eye saw

  5. the bike is already designed, theres no where else for a bigger exhaust, than at the side. There isnt room in the seat unit for even a matchbox.
They would never redesign the seat unit just for a facelift, not now its Audi !

  6. Yeah good point but you would of thought the Italians could do better than this mess, wonder how many sales it will cost them when the 1299 gets it as well!

You buy a Ducati for the same reasons you buy a Ferrari

It costs more but it's (normally) very pretty and it's spot on performance and handling wise!

The 959 isn't pretty so won't people be tempted by the ugly jap stuff now? There are better deals available on the jap stuff, the zx10 will be 0% finance and they'll slash the price 6 months after its launched

  8. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, but let's not get too excited, a few hundred quid on a used 1299 can and lower fairing turns this...

Unfortunately there aren't any aftermarket parts or accessories that will ever make this a good looking bike...

I'm not GSXR bashing btw, I own a GSXR 750 and I think they're great bikes, but they're hardly 'pretty' are they...?

  10. Why, what's wrong with it? There's nothing from my 848 I've had to bin because of poor design.

  11. Have to say, we were at the Milan show yesterday and I was not looking forward to seeing the 959 as I thought it looked awful in the pictures.

But in the flesh it was alright, not brilliant but looked a lot better than I expected....

  12. Great looking bike
    but
Looking a bit too Japanese like don't you think

  13. Corrected for you:

Fortunately for the same price, probably a lot less, you can get a pretty tidy bike (lose the tacky paint scheme with the pennies you've saved)

  14. Sure, you just need to wait until July next year to get hold of one. I actually quite like the look of the 2017 GSXR and I'm looking forward to seeing some of the reviews that'll be out shortly to see how it shapes up against everything else. Me personally I'd prefer the 959 minus the pipes but each to their own, if it's a Jap IL4 you're after then I'm sure the new GSXR will be a great choice.

  15. a few hundre quid for cans and fairings/? few thousand.gsxr looks mint,

  16. 13k for a wheel barrow or 10k for a gsxr no brainer,

  17. If you read my post properly you'll see I said 'used'.

As I said, I like the GSXR but if I was going to spend upwards of £10k on a bike I personally wouldn't want a generic Jap inline 4. I'd take the £13k wheel barrow over the dull, soul-less GSXR any day. The GSXR doesn't look mint, it just looks like every other Jap bike. Not that this is a terrible thing if that's what float's your boat. There's a reason I chose one as my track bike, it's because as a track tool yes it's great, but does it look good? No! But do I care? No!
