Got my new 899 delivered on Tuesday, all controls demonstrated, including the rather eye catching hazard warning lights, I took note as I don't have these on my monster. Weather was shite so bike stayed suitably garaged for the remainder of the day. Wednesday arrived with a hint of sunshine so planned to get fuel as "they're not allowed to deliver bikes with full tanks" you know! Insurance requirement apparently! Set off with a great big smile on my face only to, very shortly thereafter, come to a spluttering stop as the bloody thing had run out of fuel!!! Activate Hazard Warning Lights It's amazing just how far you can travel in 5mins If anyone knows the A53 between Loggerheads and Market Drayton, it literally is in the middle of nowhere, managed to push the bike 1/2 mile to a remote house and abandon bike in their driveway. Now safe, make call to neighbour for rescue, advised by Vodafone voice message that my payg phone had no credit ffs! Walked the mile home huffing and puffing, aggravated by the blister forming on my left heal, alpinstars don't make particularly good hiking boots! I'm sure there's a moral to this tale and looking at the news recently, it's got to be, just remember there's someone somewhere worse off than you! Fuel tank filled up Mobile topped up Level of optimism now refreshed, today will be a better day
My SF was delivered from Hyside Ducati in London to York 2-3 months ago with a full tank of fuel which dealer was it?
Lol at least you weren’t on the motorway – i've had to do the walk of shame all the time wondering if some tw@ was gonna come along and lift my bike onto their van while I was off searching for the nearest esso. Enjoy the new wheels and make sure you stick it in race mode.
I too have been there, new bike but low fuel level light didn't work so naturally ran out of petrol. Fortunately I got someone to bring me enough to at least get home on. The future will be better.
Mate, it could have been worse, I never know what I'm going to read when opening threads like this. haha live and learn aye! Enjoy the 899!
Once bought a new fireblade (years ago) & it didn't make it to the nearest fuel station under it's own power from the dealer!
Agree, only just lost my job to redundancy so my work phone of 15 years went back. Got a new job so "every cloud" Moral of the story - ensure you have credit!!
