aint all about speed! you know that... otherwise (arguably) we'd probably most of us be on jap bikes (bang for buck).. it is a nice bit of kit. i really like the rear of it
I was the seller fella. I bought it only a couple of months back having owned a 916 for over 7 years. I always wanted a 999s and saw it as the next step in my Ducati evolution - and the Nero came up for sale down in Devon. I put 600 miles on it in 2 months and loved it, it was a massive step forward in engine over the 916, but for me a step back in character. I took a 1299s for a test ride a couple of weeks ago and was blown away, it is the best bike I have ridden in years. I have owned a few crackers over the last 5 or so, RC8R, GSXR 1000 K5 - great bikes but I found them devoid of soul, hence the purchase of the 999s nero, it was the s I was looking for but with a little bit of extra kudos. The 1299 however was something else, smitten enough to sell the Nero at the blink of an eye and order a 1299s, which I pick up on Friday. If I could have kept hold of the 999s I probably would have, but the long haired General needed a bit of give, so I played the game. TBH, I will most probably look for a decent 916 in a year or so as a stable mate. The 1299 has everything and more that I will need for the next 5 or so years. Nige
good to here that mate, I paid £7400 for mine just months back, the guy took it 150miles north for me included in the price, mine came from durham, the guy I bought it of would not take one penny less, I does sound a lot of money but imho it was worth every penny, the bike is truly mint, I didn't no that it had some real nice upgrades when I bought it, nice surprise, has the full carbon 999r mono unit/ front headlamp to fairing braces etc etc, nearly all genuine ducati, just the fairing that's still plastic, ide of snapped your one up if I hadn't already got mine, the facelift 999s mono is not easy to get hold of now, been most of this year looking for a nice one. had a yellow 98 916 myself, luved it, do prefer the 999 though, bet that 1299 will be something else, looks amazing and mega power, let us no how things go on fri, doubt you will be taking it out this year though lol, you get the free termignoni with the 1299?
The weather is looking a little shite down here for friday, so I may just go and drool over it. I got the Akropavics thrown in and added a few extras myself. Every day the roads are dry this winter, I shall be 'working from home'
