  2. Think yourself lucky Paul.............

I have been on statins for about two years.............I was once 13 stone of solid muscle, the proverbial brick sh*thouse (albeit one where you have to duck to get in).........in a year and a half I have lost 3.5 stone...............Now back to what I was in 1972!!! (That's when Roberta Flack was No.1 in the charts...)

  5. Brief update.
My 97 plate BMW 318i has rattled my external fixator undone.
I now walk around like I've got a suit of armour on!
I realised on Friday night, but at the weekend no one was available even to answer my calls.
A&E just scratched their heads, short of going to the trauma ward and throwing myself on their mercy I waited until Monday. After 6 hours with 3 different people trying to get through I eventually get an appointment for Friday. That's after my physio explained how bad it was to my consultant s team.
So get this my consultant IS fully aware that the fixator is offering zero support to my leg bone, he's made me wait a week to re-tention it!
I'm going to insist he removes it asap, as it is implied that i no longer need it.
I really want to here his argument against!

  6. Warning...do not read if you are squeamish!
I went to hospital today for an external frame tighten and check up.
X-rays showed (me and Emma) that the breaks are still clearly on show, so slow progress.
When we get to see the consultant (surgeon), he was delighted and promptly undid a lower rod and 4 wires.
As the tension came off, everything became very loose. To demonstrate to my wife how they works he turned one end and the spring on the other side of my leg rotated.
With normal kimpex wire cutters he then cut them close to the skin (jesus christ...i shouted) and pulled them straight through my leg.
I felt very sick and near!y fainted. I wrongly assumed that a GA would be required. It was intensely painful for around 2 seconds, then just a slow trickle of blood from each wound.
My knee is now dangerously loose and hurts like hell.
He says the rest is coming off in just three weeks.
That's great news for Christmas, however he is now acknowledging that we need to fix the knee next.
At the moment I think I'm still in shock.

  9. Back in hospital by ambulance!
General discomfort from yesterday increased to agony by 9am. After talking to 111 an emergency doctor visited and said I had a infection in my leg. A&E say it may be a clot.
I've gone from walking with one crutch and full load bearing to a paralysed leg and 9 level pain. I'm back on maximum dose pain and nerve blockers.

  12. Oh god what's up
    Hope it's not serious
    Is it your floppy knee

  13. Tonight is my brother Andrew's 46th birthday party and to celebrate his leg fitting.
It's in a pub in Welwyn, so I'd booked the hotel to stay next door.
It was going to be a surprise; so I've jinxed it by trying to be well prepared.
    So in hospital instead.
