Hello, My missus is currently doing her A2 license and has her eyes on a M696. I will have to do the test rides (annoying I know). Just wondered if there is anything with the 696 I should particularly look out for? We go away to Switzerland mid June and wanna get a decent reliable bike and sort niggles before then. Thanks in advance.
Hi Ff 696 is a lovely bike, really easy to work on and not overly technical with regards to electronic wizardry! I've got a 2011 non ABS M696 with Carbon termis, racing ecu and air filter which actually make it less lumpy below 4K. Full R&G and GiPro gear indicator, I actually have the A2 restrictor still in original package for the bike also. It's only got 3.5k miles. Looks beautiful and rides great, may be persuaded to part with her for the right money
Unfortunately I'm in Staffordshire! Looking for £4.5 Ono. I'll post some photos if you're interested, btw it's red of course
Not too fussed bout colour at the mo. Has it got full service History. And some photos would be handy. Can you P.M on this forum? If so send me a PM. Cheers, Josh
I had a red 09 M696+ in 2010. It was a great bike , and I only swapped it as I wanted a m1100s. The air cooled lumps are easy to maintain and cheap too. Look for a nice looked after example with some history and I'm sure you will be ok. As a point of reference I paid £4250 for mine in 2010 with 2k miles and termi's fitted as a private sale. £4.5k seems to give you a world of choice from lots of dealers for 2012 bikes. Early 08 ones seem to start at £3k.
Hello again, just looked at a 696. Good specimen with low miles. Just wondering what people pay for a belt service? Also only concern is the front header has some corrosion/pitting, it's not bad but is this normal? I feel it would be as the front wheel flings everything at it. Other than that bike is clean. Finally any difference between an 09-latest? Cheers, Josh
