It's being tested on Wednesday so it will be in next weeks, but likely to have been reviewed online by Thursday/Friday
Yes that's right; dry weight from 169kg (899) to 176kg (959). Therefore power to weight 899= 0.88hp/kg and 959=0.89hp/kg. The increased capacity and hp gains would have been lovely without the extra weight but otherwise it does seem to be minor power to weight gain.
Hmm. Over 20 pages whinging about an exhaust. 1. Ducati didn't have that much choice about this as if they could have fitted a Euro-4 compliant exhaust under the motor, they would have done. 2. It doesn't look that awful even if you don't like it. 3. More to the point, it may sound like a wet fart (à la stock Multistrada). Then fair enough, there will be something to complain about. In fact, is quite likely to sound somewhat quiet. 4. From the other side, there isn't an issue, is there? So maybe don't get so obsessed about it. 5. When the 899 came out, everyone whinged endlessly about it not having a SSSW. But you all got over it. 6. The cast DSSW on the 899 doesn't look that marvellous in any case, so covering half of it up doesn't kill me, particularly. Euro legislation has to reduce emissions. That means bigger cans and they have to go somewhere. Frankly, compared to the lorry exhausts sported by all sort of other bikes, the 959 looks pretty good. It's probably a fine bike and you'll all adore it.
Sure. I just thought that so many pages was a little excessive. Now if they'd put the Japanese exhaust on it, that really would a cause for concern.
for the price I'd buy a 1299, sorry but I can not stand the exhaust on the new 959, I always thought Ducati got it right going back to the single swing arm twin front light design, I don't like the 899 either..
the free Yoshi can you get is much better loking than the twin cannons ducati have fitted you aint even got an argument there,,, I accept your apology,:tearsofjoy:
Well, we have to keep some perspective of course, which is that these are completely unnecessary luxury goods. There's no justification for taking up ANY space on it, it's pointless, puerile and there are far more worthy things to be occupying your time with. But we do because, f*ck, life would be that little bit more dull without it.
another perspective, the 959 is just to give as good a package as the 899 but euro 4 compliant. an 899 euro 4 compliant would be heavier and less powered than before!
That is a very valid point, yes, agreed. I wasn't though saying my 899 would be worth more, that wasn't my point
I know, just playing with you. Cars have been doing it for years, getting bigger, heavier, more restricted, while the engines get bigger, and more powerful. All the while the car goes no faster.
That's because consumers want mahoosive cars. Odd, because bikers want small bikes. Or at least I thought they did, but then looking at BMW's success and the whole Trans Continental Go Anywhere Explorer thing, maybe they don't either.
