The 959 will no doubt be a great bike to ride and it does look fantastic. Would I buy one with the standard exhaust? but I've a niggling thought. If I bought one early and if sales were slow, would Ducati start doing deals by reducing the cost on upgraded pipes. So in which case, I just keep what I have and play a waiting game. I don't think Ducati would consider this until they see how sales are going and it won't happen until this time next year, at the earliest. Thoughts would be appreciated. Ta
Much depends on how it sells once its available. If its a slow seller then no doubt exhausts will be included in the price as its the only thing that would stop it selling as the 899 did.
Why does this fallacy keep recurring? I still dislike the DSS. I will never like the DSS on the pani platform. It simply does not work aesthetically for me. Does that mean I'm obliged to mention it in every post? No. Likewise the presumption that EVERYONE will eventually like the side cans is absurd.
The problem is that even if/when they start offering a free exhaust upgrade on the 959, it's only going to be the side exit Akra which looks just as bad as the standard one. I can't see them offering the full underslung system.
I'm not sure if I agree. When I was looking at buying my first Ducati back in the summer the DSSA didn't bother me one bit with the 899. I ended up choosing a 1199 as the price was good and it meant I got SSSA and colour dash but I was very close to buying a 899. There's no chance I would have bought it if it had the 959 exhaust. For me half the reason I wanted a Ducati was because they look great. The exhaust on the 959 takes that element of Ducati ownership away, it's not stunning to look at from every angle like the 899/1199/1299 unfortunately and that will mean a lot to a big portion of their potential market.
the monsters not meant to be a beautifull sleek looking sportsbike , you gotta hand it to some ducatiists trying to make the cans look good, they are shit and even worse in the flesh,
So saw this at the bike show today and it isn't quite as bad as the pictures... But it isn't great, the Akra option isn't great either. Couple of people jumped on the bike and what soon became clear was the heel of you boot will rest on the heatshield of the exhaust so not a great design in more than one way.
Was worse in the flesh the akro mesh on end of cans looked a joke afraid to say and not many will agree new zx10 was the winner for me
the twin blondes on the pirelli stand and girl with the red hair and the amazing rack on the MV stand was winner for me
