Intermot: Ducati 2013 new colours

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Ducati Forum News, Oct 2, 2012.

  1. No new bikes on Ducati's Intermot stand except the revamped-for-2013 Multistrada but there are splashes of new colours across the range.

The Diavel moves away from its black-or-red roots with a new metallic blue-and-a-white-stripe scheme. The same treatment can also be had in metallic red, and there's the addition of a Ducati's traditional “Dark” option – matte black – to the range. The higher-spec Diavel Carbon comes only in carbon/red.

On the Monster, Ducati is marking 20 years since production started with “Anniversary” versions of the 696, 796 and 1100 Evo models. Like the original Monsters, they're red with a bronze coloured frame, gold (coloured) calipers, disc carriers and master cylinders and a chrome headlight support. The mirrors are also old-school round ones instead of the stylised shapes on the stock Monster, while the seat is given what the firm refers to as “90's style” fabric. No, we don't know either – maybe it's cut from shell suits?

The Ducati font on the tank is also the older design, as on the original Monster. Accurate tribute to the original the Anniversary models may be, but with so many Monsters in the intervening 20 years also selling in similar colour schemes, they don't immediately stand out.

On the superbike front, the 2013 Panigale is unaltered but will be offered in white as well as red, while the 848 Evo Corse Special Edition (no mini-Panigale just yet) comes in the Ducati Corse Test Team colours – matte black and matte grey with an aluminium fuel tank.

In terms of new models, the biggest clue comes in the fact the Hypermotards on the Ducati stand are all 2012 models, effectively confirming that come next month's Milan show there will be a new Hypermotard (the oft-spied water-cooled replacement for the existing machine) on display.

  2. Blue. It didn't work on the Paso (looked horrible) and it doesn't work on the Diavel. Just looks wrong and shows up that huge weird plasticky thing on the fuel tank.

  3. I love it

  4. New 848 colour scheme is absolutely gorgeous.

  5. Agree about the 848 2013-Ducat-Superbike-848-EVO-Corse-SE-04.jpg

  6. What's with the red frame tho....it looks as if it's came from a left over spare parts bin or waiting for painting after a crash damaged rebuild.

  7. Now I like that red frame, just the hint of colour sets it off in my opinion.
It's amazing how some colour schemes work for some and not for others isn't it!

  8. The Paso :eek::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::frown::mad:
There was however a nice story in Practical Sportsbike a year or so ago about a guy who found one in a barn and restored it. Yes it was blue

Sorry, but blue should go anywhere near a Ducati. IMO, only reallty suits some Ninjas and the Suzukis

That 848 is sweet looking, but a bit of a shock. I think we all thought the 848 Corse was going to be the final hurrah before the 849 or 899 (or whatever its going to be called). The white 1199.......hmmmm maybe. Im just glad its not blue :upyeah:

  9. now if they did that colour in a Panigale,,,,,

  10. They'd have one hell of a job getting it's frame red...thank god!

  11. oh helloooo - does a red tie count?

  12. That's better.......:upyeah:

  13. now we're talking!

  14. That white Panigale is lush...

I don't think that press shot of the 848 does it justice

  15. Love that although I love this years Corse SE.....

  16. How about this, Matt?

  17. I really don't like the new 848 paint scheme from these pics. I've already ordered a Corse for March but really hope I can get it in a scheme other than that, even if it's 2012 colours. Otherwise I think I'll just go for a plain red Evo and save a grand.

  18. Also, I've no idea what they were smoking when they penned the Diavel in the first place, but the blue somehow makes it even worse. Weird choice.

The white Panigale looks amazing though! :)

  19. The Ducati metallic sky blue was great, à la Pantah. Why don't they do a tribute Monster in that colour with the blue and red decals?

But that Police Force blue is just horrible. Perhaps they have a lot of blue left over from some police force order.
And I agree, the Diavel is an acquired taste lookswise. Some of the schemes make it look pretty cool, but a lot of them don't. And that blue doesn't.
