As title thinking of selling my 899 as have a refurbishment project on the go and is taking all of my money and spare time. To add to that am also booked in middle of jan for a acl reconstruction so will be unable to ride for around 3 months. So am after a little advice on selling this isn't a for sale thread as haven't made up my mind yet just after some advice. Firstly is the winter a really bad time for selling ? Where should I be looking to advertise the bike ? Price ! Have no idea as to what it's worth as they seem to vary and there isn't really a specd bike as such as mine for sale, one owner white 899 nov 2014 (64) 3000 miles termis, comfort seat, evotech tailtidy, seat cowl, extended warranty , full service (w m snell) last services a week ago brand new rubber going on next week . What would it be worth at the moment ? Will I be better selling the extras separate? Any advice welcome thanks
No winter isn't a bad time to sell, it's a good time as lots of people buy bikes in winter due to them generally being a good deal. As for what you sell I'd recommend it bone stock apart from perhaps the tail tidy. You can hold the akras back as a seperate item to buy or list them on here. Then it's simply up to you how much to list it for. If you want to definately sell it then put it at the lower end of what's available, simple really
bikes that don't sell tend to be private sales priced at dealer prices but without warranty/hpi cover/finance options etc - a bike will sell if it's rare/coveted or it's deemed to be a bargain
I think winter is fine to sell a bike tbh, just put the effort into really decent photographs etc showing the bike off properly do that people who are looking to travel for one can get a really good idea what it is like, will set u out from the crowd as there are some shocking adds online at the mo
Totally agree with Phil. I got nearly my full asking price of £4000 for my 748E. A detailed advert with good photos is what buyers need to see.
Yep, show that u are prepared to list it properly, a run down of service dates etc and when tyre were changed and all that and it just makes people think u are putting the effort in. No shots on a wet day! Everyone hates that!
Photo's taken after its just been washed is my pet hate, plenty of large pics and close ups of engine, another pet hate of mine is a furred up fasteners, dont know why but i always judge a Ducati by the condition of the rear wheel nut if it a minger i move on,i know furred up fasteners cant be helped but if someone has taken the time to keep their fasteners in good order then generally the bike has been well looked after.
Furry nuts depends on the age. If it's a young bike then it might show neglect. If it's old, 6-10 years then I'll suffer a furry nut or maybe even two if the bike fits my requirements. I can't stand ducati's that have no receipts for servicing, or have been serviced by a regular non Ducati place. Makes me think the owner put no effort in and it was just another motorbike to him/her. Same with DIY servicing. Now I know there are a lot of guys on here that'll change their own belts etc and that's fair enough but I wouldn't buy their bike. I'd want a full documented service history by a specialist or dealer. Ducati trained tech's only for me. I am a fussy Cnut though.
