Hi I'm after a seat cowl for my 97 600ss. Preferably red and in good condition. I've spent some time looking for one but they seem pretty rare beasts - does anyone know if you can buy them new or am I looking for a second hand one?? cheers
I have one Paul but don't like posting (Dorking me) if fragile-ish. If you bide your time they do turn up.
not available new now - in the very rare chance that you get down to Box Hill nr Dorking anytime then could meet you.
It is possible to make one from ally sheet fairly easily, but it would need a trim bead along the forward / leading edge as the short downturn bend there is hard to form.
Would be gorgeous in à la minion AL - not that bad to make? Wouldn't be able to add the two little fins easily though
Make them out of ally tube approx 12mm OD, cut in half down the middle and shaped at the ends (the leading ends could probably be rounded / bent to close them off)..........fix each with two small ally C/S rivets, file the tops smooth and polish........
About the fins......I meant the trailing edge could be bent, not the leading edge.............the leading edge 'fades' into the cowl surface. Having had another look at the leading edge of the cowl, there is a slight possibilty the downstand could be formed, but a trim bead would still be needed I reckon, otherwise it could cut the seat.
