  3. I have to say if Andy ( final- edition) goes on top of Andy b, funkyrimpler, bootsam , Anth, bradders, Jerry, and others, there's not a lot left for me. I know people come and go but we seem to be losing some good people here, at least disco dave keeps resurrecting himself.

  4. hmmm. I came here when I bought a Ducati. I didn't come here for technical advice, I came because I had something in common.

When I did need technical advice I got it and was even offered parts for free. Brilliant. I was actually pretty surprised that there were any techy folk here, my prejudice had you lot down as dealership dream customers. My bad.

I don't have technical issues every day, yet I come on most days at least once because I don't have many friends who ride bikes and I find it interesting reading banter. Same reason I go on another forum.

I have no issue with threads going off topic or turning abusive or ridiculous because I read all kinds of bullshit and nonsense all the time. It's everywhere. It's no biggy. I have a brain, I'm capable of ignoring or not reading things that don't interest me.

So what's the purpose of the forum? Of any forum? What is the goal or objective?

The updated style seems to be trying to make a magazine out of a discussion forum. Fair enough. Who is the intended audience? What's to be gained from it? More Ducati owners? Wouldn't that lead to the need for a place for them to meet and discuss?

The only things I find in need of moderation are the things that are unacceptable in the real world as well.

When I take my bike to the garage I don't just want tech talk, I want banter too. Keeps it interesting.

  9. I like this forum. I like the people. Generally speaking, I think everyone tries to help, in their own way, which maybe comes across mixed over the keyboard. I find the form really adds to the whole motorcycling experience for me.

I stay away from the lounge and the political threads, etc, that's where the trouble lays.

To all that have helped me when I needed advice, sold me parts when I was in need and generally lifted my spirits. Thank you.

To those that left I only knew through here a short time, the forum is poorer without you.

  10. I thought the idea of it was banter, friendly advice and laughs from likeminded people who like/love the product? In any walk of life you get idiots, tossers and morons etc - it's what makes life great and different? People need to chill and learn to laugh

  17. I know where @bradders has been all week. He has been my pit bitch at Almeria. The yellow shed suffered a few battle scars and he helped on the make-over to make it presentable again. I even had a little play on the track with @funkyscrimpler (for those that remember ducatisti). @Nelson was discussed, along with @final_edition.

  18. wrong funky mate!! was good to put a face to the name and chase your bike round and round almeria,
and yes this place will sorely miss some of the names mentioned, even if some of them were a bunch of over opinionated tossers (just like me :))
