  1. Yes but we have to work with what we can realistically change.
There is no chance of changing the weapons industry as this is tied to the people that run this country and the world. Let's stick to windmills and saving the planet.

  2. who say's you cant change it? catch up boys and girls you get the parliament you vote for. stop making excuses and blaming them. :smileys:

  4. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_sunshadesunshade
A space sunshade or sunshield is a parasol that diverts or otherwise reduces some of a star's rays, preventing them from hitting a planet and thereby reducing its insolation, which results in less heating of the planet.

A sunshade is of particular interest towards mitigating global warming through solar radiation management. Such shades could also be used to produce space solar power, acting as solar power satellites. Proposed shade designs include a single-piece shade and a shade made by a great number of small objects. Most such proposals contemplate a blocking element at the Sun-Earth L1 Lagrangian point......read more on line.
This sounds like a cheap way to reduce warming?

  5. I still disagree with your use of the term random but that is splitting hairs and I do understand the point you are making.

Whatever price we pay in terms of an "insurance premium" it will not make the slightest difference. Whatever we do in the UK is irrelevant on a global scale, the amount of energy we use and the amount of CO2 we emit on a global scale is largely locked in for the next decade or more. The only way in which CO2 emissions could be significantly reduced is a total collapse of the world economy and if that happens climate change will be about 967 on our list of things to do, to misquote from Apollo 13.
No, I am not a gambling man but I do think the die is cast.

  12. A range of possible technological methods of cooling the planet certainly exists, if it should become necessary, some of which might be feasible and economic.

It is strikingly noticeable how strongly resistant to even discussing such options are the proponents of climate change politics. They are focussed exclusively on carbon dioxide, and do not want to know about other approaches. I wonder why that is?

  13. Have a few guesses, then we can debate them.

  14. I'm not an expert in anything much. If expertise was a prerequisite for posting on this forum, it would be pretty quiet.
I suppose we could just have a forum for technical solutions to Ducati maintenance and engineering by those who know.
Then I would just go and do something else until I needed a technical solution to something.
Maybe we should have a poll to see if that is what people want.

  16. glorious 5year plan. ie shortsightedness.

  17. The big picture does not have to be complicated, but the detail often is.

Take the D Day landings; land loads of soldiers plus equipment on the beaches of Normandy and smash Hitler, there then followed several years of planning and preparation.

    Doh, there's Godwin's Law again.

  18. Experts know a lot about not very much and often struggle to take the principles from their area expertise and apply them elsewhere.
