Paul at Snells - top bloke

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Fozzie, Oct 3, 2012.

  1. Had a 42 tooth Sigma slipper clutch fitted this week, ahead of a Euro track day next month. Paul let me look and learn, and gave the bike a once-over to check everything's in order. He took the time to explain what he was doing and patiently answered all my stupid questions. Great to know my bike's in good hands.

I'll let you know how the track day goes.

  2. Jerez? If so, see you there. :)

  3. Jerez indeed...excellent! Sounds like there are a few from the forum going, which will make it even more enjoyable. I was actually down to go to Cartagena but the event got pulled...very lucky to be able to switch to Jerez over the same dates - it must be fate, I was MEANT to go on a Sapnish jolly in November, clearly!

  4. There'll be a couple of us on desmos and Ill be on my 1199, what are you riding so I can spot you?

  5. You lucky gets...can't wait to see and hear those three going past at pace :upyeah:. I'm on a 1098 with new shape termis (and open clutch cover now, of COURSE)...my mate's coming over from Atlanta and he's borrowing my old and tatty ZXR 750 (red/black/silver rather than snot green, so almost acceptable company for a bunch of Ducs)...you won't be able to miss us

  6. Great! I took my 1098 to Jerez last year, perfect tool for the job!!

Both the desmos are running open pipes, you'll need your ear plugs :) Cant wait :) Are you dropping yours off to FE on Saturday?

  7. I've only glimpsed the odd desmo on the roads round where I live so seeing not one but two on the track will be a real treat. Interesting to see how they'll stack up against the 1199, no?...6 years of development and electronic wizardry on the side of the Pani.

Yep, dropping off both bikes on the 10th at Swindon...I'll be on me tod so will be grateful for some helping hands in return for some beers at the hotel! The ZXR weighs a little bit less than Belgium, so should be fun getting it loaded...

  8. Pani, is far easier to ride. Im faster on my 1199 than my desmo, but the for the grin factor the desmo cant be beaten.

Im dropping mine off in Pulborough as its the closest to me this saturday, so sorry, would of loved too of leant a hand.

  9. I wasn't told about Pulborough...that's a lot handier for me too...was told it was Swindon (for "free") or Pro-Twins for an additional £90 per bike...do you know if Pulborough is an option nearer the time? I need to get the ZXR sorted and buy tyres for both beofre I'm ready to load them up...

Whilst I'm at it, all tyre advice welcome (both type and source) - currently running Supercorsa BSBs but they're scrubbing up something rotten after Silverstone...tempted to try BT 003s...any thoughts? Never bought tyres unfited before, so can anyone recommend a reliable value for money provider? Will need a set of sometihng for the ZXR (Avon Roadrunners?)...probably Corsa IIIs like it's got already. Cheers.

  10. are you sure you are going with focused events? sounds like you may be going with Toffs or No limits.

I hate Bridgstones, might be psycological (spelling?) but Ive had offs the 2 times I ran them. Ive run michelin power ones when I cant be arsed to chop and change from road to slicks and if im in the mood for slicks I run Dunlop D211s, soft front medium rear. Tend to last almost all weekend but if its hot the rear does does get a beating. Try FWR in kennington, they are bloomin cheap!

  11. You're right...crossed wires...I'm going with No Limits "next month" i.e. Nov...shame - looking forward to the craic and seeing those bikes . Enjoy!

Thanks for the tyre info...food for tohught.

  12. Yep great bloke who knows what he's doing, did wonders with my race bike both in motor but as or more importantly suspension

  13. Indeed he's a good chap as they all are at Snells!

  14. First time I'd been in Snell's since the work - looks really good. They've got an 1199 Tricolore in the showroom...that's a nice paint job...
