  1. All,

Just curious if you get charged for a loan bike when your DVT is in for repair?

I've been told it's £15+vat for a day with the loaner.

Can't remember ever being charged by Triumph/BMW etc

  2. whats the repair for?

  3. Never been charged when my Mutley went in (lots and lots and lots of times). Or when had me old Gixer K4. Did get charged when took out a Triumph Explore(bore)er for a test ride/yawn. £10 to cover so called insurance excess. Just for a flippin test ride. No ther bike i've tested from any one else charged me. That sucked.

  4. Most likely it's for a collision damage waiver, which may well protect you from the full insurance excess. T&C's should have explained...

  5. If it is a damage waiver, consider yourself lucky, Ducati Manchester do not provide insurance & insist damage is paid for. Implications of taking out a 1299s from them and sliding it down the road!!

  6. No charge for a test ride with Riders Cardiff, plus I didn't have my own insurance, and they didn't charge my mate when they loaned him a new RT for a fortnight.

  7. The only time I've had to pay for a test ride was with KTM and for the RC8R (£20). The charge covered you insurance wise for throwing the bike down the road.

Other places that don't charge are on the basis that if you bin it you pay for it.

    I think that's fair.

  8. My bikes going in for a dash fault. Everything keeps reseting itself (date/time/trips/engine mode changes).

The £15 isn't a waiver as you still have to sign your life away for the first £1000 of damage!

  9. Becoming pretty standard. 'Courtesy' bikes cost the dealers a fair amount of ££ of which they pay for, not Ducati in most cases.

Believe it or not they don't have to supply you with one at all.

The £15 will almost definitely be for insurance.

Easy to forget the dealers are not Ducati themselves.

When I had my service, the dealer just let me go out on a monster demo bike for a bit, which is one way of getting round this. They don't have to do that either.

  10. Fair if you get charged for any damage you actually cause. Some of the older demo bikes are ex training bikes and hence really tatty. It is perhaps prudent to take photos of bikes as they are handed over to you before you ride them in case of a dispute.

  11. P&H will often charge you, but not always if it's for warranty work

  12. Had a loan bike collision with a knob in a Mini Cooper S. 2 lanes of traffic with him in the RH lane and we both set off from traffic lights (him spinning his wheels), 100yards up the road and still side by side, he turns left into his work. £3.5k damage to his car and I'm obviously panicking over the excess costs on the bike. I kept it upright (somehow) and got charged £34 for a footrest. They couldn't find a scratch on the bike. Good ol' tank of a loan Honda.

  13. Was it a Honda Grom as you were still side by side 100 yards up the road? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

  14. 'Twas a restricted cb500. I was still on my restricted license at the time
