  2. Wsb to race superstock bikes using same rules and spec.= full grid lower cost

Motogp to race wsb spec bikes with more tuning allowed. = full grid lower cost

    Better viewing.

Stoner wont like it but who cares what he thinks he's bumming out. .

  3. So basically you're saying scrap MotoGP and allow more tuning for WSBK - epic!

  4. The aprilia crt bike which is really a well tuned rsvr4 will take some beating.
Bmw crt bike will come good when bmw sort it......
    Moto 1 will be a packed grid full of tuned R1s.... RSVR4s.... Beemers...blades....gsxrs... Zx10s...v4 dukes..oh yes.
Then maybe cagiva.. Triumph... And hardley will join the new moto 1 class.

WSB will be production spec bikes only... As a feeder for moto 1

  5. I don't think you're far off the mark Imola. WSB is supposed to be a production bike-based series, so bringing them closer to roadbikes is an obvious move allowing Motogp to use modified production engines/chassis without clashing. Works for me.

  6. Why not race SBK alongside motogp ,not at the same time obviously but same venue's at the same time , surely combining the two will make it cost effective .
Iron out which tracks theyt go to, which series run which tyres .
Lets face it if your into your bike racing sometimes there are too many race series going on to be able to follow properly
    Surely condensing it makes sense
Races could go something like this

    Moto 2
    Sbk race 1
    Moto 3
    Sbk supersport
    Motogp
    Sbk race 2
With support races wherever is best

  7. Hmm, Cal Crutchlow posted yesterday;

"Just a quick question…! Was thinking who would like to see 2 races a day in MotoGP? How cool would that be ? Wish we could make that happen…"

Was wondering what he had for breakfast, now it makes sense...

  8. They will be kept seperate as another party has huge £ in wsb
I reckon in 2014 will be

    Moto1 superbike based
    Moto2
    Moto3

    Wsb production based
    600 production moto 2 feeder
    250 singles moto 3 feeder

  9. Moto GP & WSB to merge?

    So Bridgepoint/Infront/Dorna own both series

"As a consequence, MotoGP and WorldSBK, will be integrated within the Dorna Sports group but managed as separate events with a view to enhancing the two distinct championships. The objective is to allow both series to develop and enhance their championship personalities, retaining their leadership positions in the arena of world motorcycle road racing - WorldSBK, with its focus on production-based racing, and MotoGP with its focus on prototype racing. At the same time, both championships will benefit from joint marketing and commercial strategies."

Can't really see what's different, if they hadn't of told us would we have noticed.

  10. Nice idea in practice, but which tracks would you go to. All the MotoGP, all the WSBK or a combination of both? What about the other support races. You'd have to start the racing, not just the warm up, at 08:00, and would finish well into the early evening. Great value, but you could well expect at least a £300 price ticket per race

  11. I like the idea of WSB dropping down to superstock spec. These are supposed to be production bikes after all, and tight regulations mean that the manufacturers would have to bring out homologation specials again:upyeah:

  12. So long as it remains 2 sets of meetings it shouldn't be too bad.

All on one day is a rubbish idea frankly.

I like to have as wide a range of races over as many weekends as possible with as many opportunities to visit a couple of them as possible.

  13. There would be a huge loss in TV revenue if both series were merged. There's no doubt that MotoGP hasn't been as exciting as it needs to be with the loss of some of the major manufacturers and unless the racing gets back to being exciting then I fear for its future. We need to see something close to the Moto2 and 3 races to reinvigorate the public's interest, but somehow the companies need to be allowed to develop new products.

  14. Why not invent a new class then: WSB uses near-road-trim production bikes, moto1 uses production engines/chassis with any amount of tuning allowed, and then start a whole new class for prototypes only. Keep the prototypes down to low capacity (maybe also limit cylinder numbers and minimum weight) - like a moto3 class - but allow any type of engine/chassis arrangement with minimal rules.

The manufacturers get to play at inventing stuff for this new class while spending considerably less on motogp, maverick engineers of the Britten/Newcombe ilk have an outlet for their genius, and privateer teams stand a fighting chance in motogp. It would be important, though, to allow any new ideas in engine, chassis and aerodynamic design to compete, so a lower capacity would mean lower speeds and less safety issue interference.

  15. Have to agree with you Figaro. A good idea, just hope someone see's this and puts it forward.

  16. To lose a prototype development class like MotoGP will be tragic. Lots of new tech is trickled down to WSB and roadbikes from MotoGP. Bring back early 990's and 500's....

  17. Would it really be so bad? It wasn't a prototype series to start with, just look at how many manx nortons competed. The spirit of the race is far more important than the rules.

  18. I'd say just keep the top stuff , anyway I can tell you I'm fed up with watching two riders contesting the outcome of each and every motogp race, Casey coming back for Motegi will make it three, but basically whoever gets third spot on the podium is irelevent and has been since Casey has been out.I'm so peed of with it imo.

  19. All the more reason for change then. But so many people seem resistant to change. It baffles me.

  20. WSB 1992... Foggy buys a 851 SP4 and enters a buy over the counter road bike and beats the factory SP4's at many race's.
Imho that is WSB and what it should be.

Look at the grid size's of 500 gps in the 70's and 80's You could buy a RG500, TZ500 and the 500 kwacker as race bikes and go racing (Not cheap but the bikes were available to anyone)

The way WSB has gone is on the verge of prototype and leaves Motogp no space to distance itself from a suppose to be road bike race series!
