I'd probably steer clear of the R1 then if it was me. But that's not to say it might not work for you...
I had a 2012 S1k and now have a 1199r and a 2015 R1. I find the R1 a fantastic bike on the track, I only did 500 miles on the road with it and found it much easier to get on with than the 1199. The electronics on the R1 are fantastic and give you plenty of scope for dialling them in or out. I really like it and rate it above the BMW I had. I can't understand how people can say there is no power low down because it's huge advantage is it's leap out of corners. We're I to describe the power delivery I would say it has the delivery of a twin but with an extra couple of thousand revs up top. Delivery is very linear. Be aware that all 2015 models are on a recall for a gearbox repair. Here is a link to Jeremy McWilliams following me around Almeria
thanks niven, yes have herd the gearbox issues and also side control ones, the dealers recon it will be sorted on the 2016 models,
Pretty sure fast bikes put the R1M 2nd best sports bike of 2015, with RSV-RF at number 1? Might be worth finding that test for some info.
yeh going off it a bit , really think its more track than road , seems to be the general crack on testing ,
ive just seen neeves long term report and he says the most soulless road bike hes ridden but good on track, these journos talk shit mate, but thanks for feedback, I really fancy one but just seems to many negatives for a 19k bike,
A lot of things i've read have said it's not going to be a great road bike.. Thing is with the likes of mcn, is a lot of the products are sent to them for endorsements, Yamaha aren't likely to give them another bike in future if they slate the crap out of their new baby..

really?? if it was my brand new factory built bike I would be saying get me another new one from the factory, AS I did this year when my S1000RR engine went, the bmw dealer had me on a brand new s1000rr within 1 week, that's what you call txt book, there is NO way in the world that bike will be built and torqued up to the exact same standards as it came from the factory,
All good, but your engine failed, so a replacement was warranted, the R1M is having bits replaced because they MAY fail, slightly different.
