Well have been looking to take the plunge into market but don't know which bike to go for. I was originally leaning towards a 2015 dvt s but have just seen a 2014 PP low miles for £13700 any thoughts and opinions on which way I should go? Cheers Davy
That my friend is a very difficult question. Search my post for 1200dvt vs 2014 pikes peak. I have a full termi system on my bike with a moto rapido map. I manage the height of my bike just about so the lower DVT bike had obvious benefits. The new s will no doubt be a superb bike but the 2014 PP with better wheels and some carbon etc especially with a full system may be more of a 'traditional' Ducati experience. The trouble is if I were to look at changing my bike I would want a full system which would mean more money again. If the seat height is not an issue to you the decision is more difficult again. Depends on what you can afford I suppose and if you want an accomplished big mile tourer or maybe something for shorter blasts where the raw bark of the 2014 may be more your thing. I thought I may get back on my bike and want to purchase the new one but this was not the case, I really enjoyed riding mine again but for different reasons as I posted previously. Good luck with your decision, I'm gonna try a KTM Superduke GT when they come out.
A single spark PP with full system (decated) and a professional remap/dyno like CJS....best ....Mutley.... ever.(say in head with clarkson voice)
Aren't nearly all the heads done now.... Right up to ( but excluding ) DVT the clocks suffer from water ingress. In fact if you've got a good one it would be worth getting g that hydrophobic coating done
Enlighten me what is the hydrophobic coating? On a completely off topic note I was sorry to hear about your accident and I hope you are recovering well? Are you hoping to be riding again any time soon?
Thanks for the reply's, but have taken the plunge before I received any opinions. Well Iv'e gone for the 2014 PP mint con super low miles, standard with stand and battery conditioner. Having rode many bikes over the years Gxrs,Vfr's,Blade,R1,Speed Triple, etc and then went over to the dark side (don't laugh) Harley D (money pit) Job change means I will commute more often weather permitting 60 mile round trip. Personally my HD Fatbob whilst the closest bike harley make to a "normal" bike won't really cut it as a daily rider (super loud don't think the neighbours would be impressed). So is there anything I need to look out for,and which mods are worth looking at decat etc. Cheers Davy
Well done...you won't regret it (as you haven't ridden the early bike when sorted) :Hilarious::Angelic:
Have you seen these places in large shopping centres etc that will water proof you mobile phone for £15. They are applying that coating...misting vacuum etc. If your speedo clocks are glimmer free then I'd do that on the clocks. They are an arse to get out. Me getting at present I can only walk on two crutches, non load bearing. Some permanent damage to left hand and lung. Not sure about the leg....and yes I will be back on a bike in the Summer... Thanks for asking
Good to hear you will be back on a bike next year AirCon, all the best for a successful and speedy recovery
Davy, I'm really sorry to hear about the Harley but congratulations on the new bike... The 2014 PP is a fantastic bike and the only mods I have felt necessary are heated grips and I got the system when there was £1k towards accessories. Aircon, thanks for the info re the waterproofing. I'm sorry to hear you are still so effected by your injuries, I guess it will be a long road but I have a feeling you have the inner strength to work hard to recover. And you have the liberation of motorcycling to look forward to...
Speed mouse, with the full termi system I take it I would need a remap would this be a dealer reflash of the ECU?
With the full system moto rapido loaded a custom map onto my bike for free. Whilst this is not as good as dedicated dyne time I'm pretty happy with it. I think you get a plug in upmap when you purchase the system anyway which I had with the boxes of kit that came with the bike. I think if you search the site there's loads of info on this topic.
Was it the one with 1100 miles on the clock ! If so lovely bike and I had seen it myself I was 50/50 on buying it I'm so glad it's sold now it was giving me sleepless nights. Enjoy your PP shame the new one didn't take a leaf out the same parts Bin. [emoji106]
