As a committed fair weather rider here in the UK I find it hard to believe that my beloved machine is not tucked up for the winter. I think forecast temperatures could mean at leat another week or two, only trouble is the bike comes back filthy and I spend as much time cleaning as riding, not moaning as its totally worth it. Who else is still riding in December in the UK ?
Been out today, out most weekends on either DVT or Monster Cold not bother me, try to avoid the rain though
Not a DVT but was out on Friday and cleaned it today, will be out in the week at some point. A good dose of ACF-50 is a good idea to protect against salt and crud doing any damage.
Put some ACF-50 on those sticks AirCon, their a bugger to get the salt off you know. Bought a Y reg RT to ride through the winter, can't believe how mild it's been.
I am also out on my MTS and planning a mini tour next weekend aroud the Cheviot hills and the borders If it snows mind the plan will change !
I'm still riding, my 2013 has seen use through every winter since new except when there's snow on the ground. I'm not the best at cleaning so the finish on some parts has suffered a little even with liberal ACF50 use.
Must admit the Hyper is staying in the office covered up in this weather but does get use if its dry and no salt. My every day bike is a 97 Africa Twin this gets used all the time and i ride the snow and ice rain and shine.
I rode in today, and will tomorrow, and then maybe once or twice next week, Jan and Feb might be tricky as I live on a hill that gets very icy!
I have still been getting out when it's dry. Which isn't that often, did my christmas shopping on the panigale on saturday haha.
I'm in dirtbike mode for the winter but I still use the Panigale when it's dry. I've got the KTM Adventure for shit weather but tbh even on that I try to avoid it as I have an easy tube ride if I need it. If we move house outside of London then I'll be on the KTM or something similar everyday all year round. I spray acf-50 or similar everywhere each time I go out.
Had a superb little ride out yesterday, some lovely lanes around Cornwall. It wasn't even cold - 12-13 degrees. I only had a long-sleeved top on under my jacket, it was lovely. The bike got a thorough clean afterwards, having ridden to work in the rain a few times recently. I've been recommended this stuff by a friend: 750ml aerosol can Napier VP90 Gun Cleaner & Lubricant - NOT Highlands/Islands/NI | eBay Brings up the plastics and wheels a treat, and is superb on the engine - everything looks better than new. I'll be keeping a coating on the bike over the winter.
I'm still riding the multi. Gone for the option of getting it caked in mud, then not washing it until it's warm again. The mud will form a protective layer from the salt [emoji106]
