My 2010 gt1000 had a major service with belts at 13000 kms as i had just bought it two years ago.I change the oil every 5000kms (3000mls).She (bella) now has 31000kms on the clock and it's time for another full service with belts. The 1000ds engine is good for how many k's or miles do you think given regular servicing and not revving it to hard most of the time. ps drinky we are lucky over here summer is just starting
50,000 miles minimum. Looked after it should go to 80-10,000 miles. My 1st 907 died at about 75,000 and had a hard life.
Have a look on Ducati.ms. I seem to recall a couple of owners posting with over 100,000 miles on their GT1000s. The DS1000 motor is definitely a good 'un.
Thank you for the answers guys.Do you know how it is wondering whether you should save the wear and tear, you know,go easy, keep it in the shed and polish it or just go for it because at your age it's the best thing you've ever ridden. What a nice dilemma.
It's a tool designed and built to do a job , enjoy it doing it's job. If you don't then someone else will.
We all get attached to bikes, but unless bought as an investment then I think you need to enjoy them , depending on what you want out of bikes , ride them , polish , work on, touch , and enjoy. Merry Christmas everyone.
Thanks mate i was based at wigram back in the early seventies and hand a mach4,hows that being being young and...dumb...and Rudolf (fart) i rode today up in the hills like i wished the mother in law was on the back.
Cheers Old Fart. I had a cracking ride out in the countryside yesterday. You're a better man than me, I'd never let my mother in law sit that close to me!
Agree they will last for a long time, know of several ds1000 engines with over 100'000kms on the clock. Weak point is the belt rollers, keep an eye on those plus scheduled maint and it should be fine.
