Searching Out My First Ducati

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Ashley, Dec 22, 2015.

  1. Evening all, my name is Ashley from Kent

I curently own a 2015 Triumph Daytona 675 and am on the lookout for another 'toy'

Currently top of the list is a 999s but also have a thing for the 1098 and 848 evo

Looking (like most do) for a mint low mileage, low owner bike to keep for the long haul.

This place is full of knowledge and seemingly friendy people so i'm off to do some research and hopefully will be able to get pics of a new purchase soon

    Ash

  5. Welcome Dave:)

  6. Hiya :Angelic:

  7. Welcome! Ignore all those new things, what you want is an old, broken 600 Supersport and funnily enough I know who can supply you one...:tonguewink:

  8. We are still here :Stop:

Hello and welcome into the mad house Ash

Do you like red it's the best Ducati colour :Muted:

  9. 1198s all the way dude :upyeah:

  10. Hiya, I had a 2010 Daytona 675 then a 2013 Ducati 848 Evo, then a 2013 Daytona 675r and now the panigale, so can speak of the differences! The 848 will be a culture shock, quite slow to steer compared to the Daytona and very stable at speed. Also they as very stiffly sprung even compared to the Daytona. Best of luck with the search, on their day and when going for a blast they are epic

  11. Thanks for the welcome guys
The search is on, seen a couple of 749r's for sale......

  12. 2004 "carbon" model is the one to go for...57mm full Temignoni system is obligatory.

  13. 848, stiffly spring you say. Thought mine was welded :0)
Took mine down to the stone mason so they could carve another spring for me. But a picture to look at.

  14. Mine redefined 'stiff' everything else in life was therefore 'semi lob' once I'd experienced the 848 rear shock

  15. Hi ash and welcome in. Good look with the search and at the right time too, price wise. :upyeah:

  16. Thanks again, carbon 749r would be great but cant see anything available and would be happy to 'settle' for an 05/06 model
Low mileage, low owner good history bike- is 8.5-9.5K too much or about the money?

  17. if you are gonna spend that sort of money but don't want the big power of the 1098/1198 then id suggest a 848 evo and stick some Ohlin's either end, Are you looking for a investment or a bike to use ?

  18. Thanks, i'm looking for a bit of both.
I WILL use the bike i the summer but would like a bike that will appreciate in value too.
I may be wrong but think the 749r will probabl only go up in value (even if marginal) whereas the newer bikes are yet to bottom out price wise.
I do like the 848 evo though.
Choices like these are never easy

  19. Nice choices to have thou, you might find the 749R a bit underwhelming after the 675 but as you say likely to become more sought after sooner then say 848/1098/1198,

  20. I think the 749r is a good step from the 675, similar power of not a little more, and a bit more torque. I've had two Daytona's and an 848 Evo also
