Bmx was my life for most of my younger year's, and I used to work for Ride magazine too. It's amazing how many people I bump into that now ride motorbikes
I know it's hard to quantity in words, but how much more comfortable is the comfort seat, and does the finish (it's alacantara, right?) make it a little grippier ?
I've never ridden on anything other than the pani comfort seat so I can't comment. However I do find it good. And it does look better IMO.
Hi All I can't seem to find my intro thread, so I'll post the progress up here Got a rear seat hump today in the post from a member on here, and it's fitted perfectly. I think it looks miles better already, and makes the lines much cleaner. I also sourced some R&G bobbins and forks for my oxford stand, so that's make the paddock stand fitting complete too. The forks are a pain in the arse to locate on the bobbins on my own, whilst trying to hold the bike straight, but I guess that'll come with practice I did order some Oberon foot pegs, but when they arrived today, I realised that the studded ones with a black peg and very chrome studs looked a bit 'harley davidson' to me with the chrome studs on black, so I've returned them for some knurled black ones instead. Quick question ; I've removed the pillion foot peg assembly, but can't work out what to do with the fixing bolts as the rears aren't threaded enough to screw ion flush with the bodywork, and I don't want to leave the holes open as it'll fill with crap from the back true. What does everyone else do when they've removed the fitting ?
I'm commuting on a standard seat because I don't want to be any higher on the bike, but I am tempted to get a comfort seat at some point and see if it makes it worse in terms of wrist comfort. Ref the pillion pegs, yeah mine were already removed and have the open holes which I don't like, was thinking about trying to source some rubber grommets to go in there? Have u been out on it much?
I had the same concerns when I removed the passenger pegs from the 899. I bought some shorter bolts and put those in instead which blocked the holes. I dipped them in white grease first before screwing them finger tight with one small turn at end with a hex head. Think the size was M6.
I have thought the same thing ref pillion pegs. Mine were removed from new, I've seen Sato do a hook for the underside which looks okay, might chuck one of them on mine.. SATO RACING | Racing Hook - Ducati 899/ 1199 Panigale
Got my red 899 in October, pre registered zero miles, the guy who put the deposit down couldn't get the finance passed, it's on a 15 plate and I paid £11750 cash
haha its done 1 x 20min session at oulton park and that's it! I've decided to keep it now anyway as couldn't get a deal sorted for a r1m
but if your old like me, it loads weight on your wrists. Ass becomes fine, but your wrists are ruined!
Alright, alright! But didn't know where to start.... had a look at some of the classified ads and it is as good as, if not better, than the other stuff out there! As I said, open to sensible offers.... there aren't too many 899s with Termis and a BikeTrac fitted with only 1010 miles on them. We're all mates on here... happy to take advice, as ever! :relaxed:
Finally a dry-ish day today. Did a 150mile tour around the Cotswolds on my triumph in the morning, and as the roads were drying out, I got out on my Ducati for a couple of hours in the afternoon I'm smitten with the bike so far, certainly, and my nine year old likes to sit on it with my helmet on too
I agree it's never easy to decide whats a fair price for yourself and the buyer. No harm in trying for the price you want i suppose. In my opinion when selling privately you have to be that little bit better then the dealer because at the end of the day we would all prefer to buy from them for peace of mind plus the benefits of finance etc. good luck with the sale! Just to let you know when i rang my local dealer they said over the phone id be looking at around £8,500 - £9,000 to trade mine in.... now im keeping it haha
Pricing's very difficult If it helps, I paid £10k for mine with 2k miles, one owner and registered in 2014 - I also gained around £500 into the deal over the odds for my PX, and free delivery to swindon and a service, so real price around 9.5k less Alpha What bikes are advertised for, and what they sell for are two totally different things There were a few bikes advertised around the 10.5-11k mark that I enquired about, and all but one was prepared to do a pretty decent deal on it
