  3. According to the WSBK website, the Misano Superbike round is on 18-19 June 2016.

  4. Before you all go booking your accommodation, please be aware that the actual location has not yet been confirmed.
At the moment it is undecided whether it will be at Misano again or whether it will be held at Imola.
An announcement will be made once the location is confirmed.

  5. Imola is only 20 miles from Bologna. So that would be quite handy.

  6. Hello all. Once the dates are confirmed, does anyone know of anyone or clubs organising a week trip etc.

  7. I expect all Clubs will be organising trips.

  8. Confirmed as at Misano - official announcement this week.

  9. Just a word of warning. By all means go to WDW if it appeals to you - I've been twice. WDW is fine, quite interesting and enjoyable for a couple of days provided your expectations are not too high. But if you are expecting three days of gripping entertainment, you're in for some disappointment.

  10. I went in 2014, and will draw the line at one trip. A great ride down, and it was really good to catch up with old friends, but as an event, not worth it for me.

Being charged for my loyalty of 25 years Ducati ownership stung a bit! As Pete has said, there's nothing really to do after a couple of hours. Some nice show bikes, and track displays, if you could get anywhere near being able to see the track!

If you've never been, give it a go, but don't expect too much!

  11. It wasn't all bad!

  12. I think you're right but I also think you're wrong...

The first WDW can be a bit daunting as it is so big, and there's also quite a bit that doesn't happen at the track, the Scrambler Beach Party at WDW2014 for example, so if you're not clued up and read through the programme you can easily miss things that are going on and miss (some of) the entertainment. I found this to be my experience at the first I attended in 2012.

Armed with this knowledge, I attended WDW2014 and had a much better time! I was more prepared to make sure that I was where I needed to be for the events, to be on time (or early!) and pack in as much as possible. Don't forget that there's 65,000 people attend WDW and it's not all going to come to you!

It's an awesome event and if you're going to go to WDW2016 then my advice is to either go with someone who has been before, or to make sure that you plan in advance and pack it all in. And join one of the clubs to get your tickets half price. And to go to La Dolce Vita on the Rimini beach front on Friday night for the (all-night) party!!!!

PS. The press release is out now confirming Misano.

  13. As we don't have a club in guernsey, I would like to join up with others going. Can meet anywhere on route either uk ports or st Malo, Cherbourg etc. Keen to go with me being a newbie to the ducati family.

  14. There are (at least) two that cover Guernsey.

  15. If anyone can put me in contact with those going that would be great.

  17. So the forums not forming a group? I've been thinking of going but the wife and I have done over 9000 miles riding through the back roads of Europe on paid tours over the last 2 years, the thought of riding all that way if as you say " but as an event, not worth it for me" although I may consider it if we could get a group together off the forum and ride there n back in a week or less. at least we could get to know who's who's and have a few drinks and a laugh in the evenings.

  18. I have never quite understood the point of "paid tours". I've done loads of tours around Europe over the years, and hope to do some more in future. But I can ride wherever and whenever I like, and stay wherever I like - I don't have to pay anybody to do this, nor do I have to stick to anybody else's schedule.

So my question is: What do you get with a paid tour which you can't do anyway for nothing?

  19. We did it for the experience, having never been out of the UK before we though it best to learn from going as a group, plus I have no biking friends, well no friends at all so going as a group meant at least we'd have some one to socialise with in the evenings.

  20. I'm going (spent most of the last weekend making plans and booking accommodation) but will be taking a fortnight in total (taking in Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, the Italian Dolomites & Slovenia). I'll be staying in Cattolica. Being a slowcoach I prefer to ride solo. It would be good to meet other forum members at WDW.
