Tiny spade connectors on SS front indicators

  1. Does anyone have a source for these? half mine are damaged or missing. I think they might be the same as the connections on 60's Italian car loudspeakers

  2. You can get individual spade connectors from halfords, or at least you could 4 years ago.

  3. i replaced the bullet connectors on my SS indicators with 'tamiya' type din connectors to ease fairing removal. It was very fiddly to fit them, but it does make connecting and disconnecting the indicators far easier. Is this for a carby or ie?

  4. thanks 900, I did have a look in my local branch but nothing that small now.

    it's a carby Phil

  5. Thanks Al, I knew you'd be along! it's always nice to get a confirmation/recommendation. so they are the same as speaker connections - 2.8 mm spade. Found a great range of female connectors with or without locking tabs but only one place that sold the 'rigid' (locked on) insulator sleeve, but still didn't bother due to greedy (£3.30) postage charge for something I could train an ant to shift.

  6. I have shitloads from Halford.

  7. Similar to PhilOlds above, I sliced into the supply cable and installed a pair of SuperSeal M/F connectors inline to avoid touching and weakening the delicate housing connectors every time I need the fairing off. WIth practice you can separate the SuperSeals with one hand making fairing removal a doddle but refitting still requires some balancing on a free foot.

  8. Why not just turn / un-click the bulb holder from the back of the indicator lens unit each side?

Easier than pulling the wires off (and getting them wrong way round when putting them back on)......

    AL.

  9. you are right AL but I find myself doing the same as Nigelo normally!

  10. Me too.......until I discovered the bulb holder is easy to unclick.......You can imagine how daft I felt.......

....and.....just take the bulbs out if the holders are dangling or in the way......even that's easier than trying to pull the connectors off the back of the holder.....

    AL.

  11. AL

You do surprise me, that's been the way I've always taken the fairings off. It never even occurred to me to try and pull apart the wiring to the indicators.

  12. Looking at the posts above mine, you must be the only bloke that didn't pull the connectors off!

  13. Horses for courses, it's just the way I look at things I guess.

  14. PaulK653 was round to see me today.....I asked him what he did......"I always pull the wires off" he said.....See? It wasn't just me.....

    AL

BTW...have you sorted your front tyre and mudguard yet?

  15. Yup, it's all sorted thanks. The man dryer and an off cut of wood sorted it out ; had to change the bolts that hold the mudguard as I got a bit of distortion as it cooled down
